It is a quiet, cozy green town. We drank mineral water, swam in pools with healing water and explored the surroundings. But since my friend and I are still young and energy is boiling in us, we soon got bored with such a measured way of life and we went further to the capital of Georgia -.

Here we spent several more eventful days. Tbilisi is very different. There are quiet corners and noisy places, old and modern architecture, cafes and restaurants offering local cuisine or sushi and pizza ... In general, everyone will find something for themselves here. We got to Tbilisi by car, because we arrived in Georgia on our own. But there are other ways to get from Borjomi to Tbilisi.

Borjomi to Tbilisi by train

The train departs from to twice a day: at 7:05 am and at 4:45 pm. On the road, both flights spend about 4-4.5 hours. Quite a long time, considering that the distance between cities is only 150 km.

The flights we need are highlighted in red. In general, having chosen a train, on the way to Tbilisi you can sleep, read a detective story or a novel, solve all the crosswords in a magazine ... then another entertainment.

The train is a typical electric train that has been preserved since Soviet times. True, it is worth noting that it has been somewhat modernized. The cabin of the electric locomotive is overcooked, and resembles modern high-speed trains (funny, given that the train travels 150 km in 4 hours))) There are also changes in the cabin - instead of benches, soft seats are installed. Otherwise, everything is like in the trains of our childhood. There are no dry closets or air conditioners in the train cabin. The train has 5 carriages.

The train passes both railway stations in Borjomi, but it is more convenient to land, in my opinion, at the Park station.

Where to buy tickets

You can buy tickets at the railway station in or already in the carriage from the controller. You can also try to use the railways website to buy. But as I understand it, ticket purchases are available only after registering on the site. And the interface of the site is not very clear. It's easier to buy tickets at the box office. Fortunately, many Georgians understand Russian without any problems.

Ticket prices

Tickets cost only 4 lari (about 1.5 euros).

By bus

Bus is the second option to get to Tbilisi by public transport. The bus trip will take almost half the time than the train - only 2.5 hours. But the fare will also be higher. Starting from 7 am to 7 pm, buses leave for the capital every hour.

There are completely different buses on the route. They can be large or small (minibuses or minibuses), almost new or well-worn. It all depends on the degree of your luck. Therefore, it is difficult to predict how comfortable your trip will be.

Where to buy tickets

You can buy tickets either at the ticket office of the bus station, or in the driver's cabin.

Ticket prices

Apparently from the fact that the speed of movement by minibus / bus is almost twice as high as that of a train, the price is also twice as high. You will pay 7-8 lari for the journey (about 3 euros).

By car

As I said, we traveled by car. By the way, if you come to Georgia without a car, I recommend renting it. Take a look at the options offered by different rental companies on special sites, for example, at. Choosing a car, you will not depend on the schedule and on the luck of driving in a brand new minibus or Soviet pazik.

But back to our road. The distance between the cities is about 150 km. It is really possible to pass it in 2-2.5 hours. Too much acceleration does not work. First, the road is still mountainous. Wherever you go in Georgia, one way or another you will have to go along serpentines. Even if the road is not a continuous serpentine, sometimes you will have to slow down. The second reason for the slow pace is the stunning views. There are plenty of them on the way to Tbilisi.

The road condition to Tbilisi is average. Of course, the roads of Georgia are far from the European autobahns in their state, but obviously nothing threatens the suspension of the car. There are gas stations along the highway. There are also cafes. So neither you nor your car will stay hungry. In general, it is difficult to stay hungry in Georgia))) It took us about 27 lari (about 10 euros) on the road.

If you want to get to cheap - take the train. You need to get there quickly - then take the bus. Even faster - only by car.

The distance Tbilisi - Borjomi along the highway is 142 km, in a straight line - 117 km. In English countries, this route is 89 miles by road and 73 miles in a straight line. The trip Tbilisi - Borjomi by car will last about 2 hours 2 minutes.

The road map is highlighted in red on the map and passes next to 7 settlements. To plot a route Tbilisi - Borjomi for a car and find out how many kilometers between these settlements, the exact coordinates of cities, highways and other geographical objects were used.

Refueling along the highway is shown on the map. The total number of filling stations is 5, including:

    Lukoil: 5
