Holidays in spain calella. Calella - the new pearl of the Mediterranean coast of Spain

  • 14.11.2021

On the Costa del Marismme, there is the wonderful resort town of Calella, ideal for a relaxing and active holiday. This resort is small in size. It covers an area of just over 8 square kilometers. But at the same time, its compact territory easily accommodates hotels, supermarkets, souvenir shops, restaurants, nightclubs and even several medical centers - in a word, a full range of modern establishments that make tourists' rest comfortable and varied.

Benefits of staying in Calella

One of the main advantages of Calella is its convenient location on the Mediterranean coast, almost adjacent to Barcelona and Girona.. This factor is important especially for tourists planning a vacation with the whole family. After all, most of the charter flights from Russia land at Barcelona airport, and from there it is only a 50-60 minute train ride and Calella reveals its beauty to tourists. Moreover, the railway communication between these cities is excellently established. Clean and comfortable commuter trains quickly and relatively inexpensively deliver vacationers to the very center of the resort. And here tourists are already waiting for budget boarding houses, luxury apartments of the highest category, hotels with a different number of stars and three huge campgrounds offering their guests a comfortable night's sleep, interesting leisure time by the outdoor pools, tennis courts and children's playgrounds.

TOURIST REVIEWS:

Is the review helpful?

The cost of staying in Calella. July 2019.

tour cost

The tour was bought for 4 people: three adults and a child of 11 years old. The cost is 1721 euros with breakfast and dinner for 7 nights, but accommodation is according to the "fortune" system, that is, how lucky: it should be a 3-star hotel, but we were not told the name. I was lucky to get to the "Olympic" - the rooms are modest, the food is gorgeous, to the beach - 10 minutes. We flew from Vilnius.

The hotel guide offered many excursions: to Tossa de Mar on a yacht (2 hours one way) + 4 hours - free time for sightseeing - 34 euros per person, but we refused. We went by train to Barcelona ourselves - for all 40 euros in both directions. There they bought tickets for the T10 metro - 10 trips for 10 euros. We got to the Citadel park, looked outside the Sagrada Familia, walked through the Gothic quarter and the free part of Park Guell (chic park), saw Casa Batlló - everything is free.

We also went by train to Blanes (for all 20 euros in both directions), from there we went on foot to the castle of Sant Joana (free of charge), as it turned out it was already Lloret de Mar, from there we went down to the Botanical Park - Marimurtra - 7 euros for person + 1 euro card (29 euro for all). Walking from the Blanes station to these attractions is very far. There are no discounts for children. But going by train is a separate pleasure, because it goes along the sea - very beautiful views open up.

In Calella itself, we went to the lighthouse - for free, but, as it turned out, we were lucky to get there, it was decorated for a wedding, but in general it is always closed.

A very beautiful view opens from the signal tower - beyond Calella towards Barcelona - of course, also free.

Food and groceries

In cafes, a portion of paella costs 6-10 euros, depending on the cafe itself. Bought a pizza for 2 euros a serving (1/8 of a pizza). They didn't go to the cafe anymore, because next to the hotel there was a supermarket "Mercadona", where super prices: buns for 0.1 euros, water 8 liters - 1.15 euros, wine - 2-4 euros, canned mussels, oysters - 3 euros, squid - 2 euros, chips "Pringles" - 1.82 euros, "Fanta" with juice "- 1 for 1.5 liters. In other stores, prices for alcohol and drinks were 2 times higher.

The weather at that time was wonderful, the sun was hot during the day with might and main, but in the morning and in the evening it was comfortable and cool. We stayed a five minute walk from the beach in a charming aparthotel where we decided to have breakfast and dinner. It was convenient, because in the afternoon we were going to visit the surroundings, go to Barcelona, wander around the local restaurants.

The beach in Calella is huge, sandy. You can swim and sunbathe along the entire strip. Another advantage of the town was the railway station right in the city center. From here it was possible to get anywhere quickly and smoothly.

Calella is full of restaurants, bars, shops, shops. You can spend the whole day quite calmly if you suddenly need to make purchases. In the evening in the town they organized some kind of show and celebration. The schedule of entertainment was handed to us immediately at the station in a small booth of the "Tourist Office". We had time to watch the Habanera dance festival, listen to live music on the beach and visit an exhibition of national lace.

So, sweet little town, we quite liked it, as it corresponded to the goals that we pursued at that time.

Family holiday

Although we didn’t have a family vacation, we had a company of six women with different needs. Some wanted to go swimming, some would go to a dance show, and some were wandering around the shops. Here everything had something to do with myself. As for the kids, all the hotels have animation in the evening, including ours. There is a water park nearby, but we didn't go there. The beach is suitable for everyone, in the morning it is cleaned thoroughly, so it is clean and pleasant.

What to take with you on vacation?

At this time of the year, it rains and winds sometimes. So, I definitely advise you to take a blouse or windbreaker. And also, for convenience, it is not bad to have a second swimsuit. Everything dries not so quickly in a humid climate, and sometimes you want to swim in the pool in the evening.

Where is the best place to stay?

Everything is close enough in Calella. We chose Aparthotel Miami Park. The most important thing was that these were not hotel rooms, but apartments, which was always convenient for us. We settled in an apartment with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and terrace. The kitchen, however, was not used - only teapots. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel. We dined somewhere on an excursion or in the city. The hotel has Russian-speaking staff, which will be convenient for those who do not speak foreign languages. There is a swimming pool, comfortable lounge, good internet.

How to entertain yourself at the resort?

We traveled from Calella twice to Barcelona, once to Girona. In the town itself, you can just wander the streets, stroll along the embankment, admire the lighthouse. An excursion train runs along the sea, the cost is 4 euros, the whole journey takes about an hour.

You should definitely go to Barcelona if you haven't been there yet. We have already been there, but anyway, we decided to once again walk through Park Guell and get to the Sagrada. Our must-see program is a trip to Boqueria, the oldest market in Barcelona. A walk along the Ramblas is an integral part of a trip to Barcelona.

The beaches in Calella are clean, spacious and sandy. Equipped with showers, wooden flooring. There are sun loungers and umbrellas for a fee.

What can you buy?

The town is full of shops. We visited them with pleasure. Since this was already the end of the trip, they bought souvenirs, shoes, swimwear, bags, dresses, T-shirts.

About the prices of goods

Good quality shoes. You can buy very decent leather shoes. We bought sandals for 45 euros, bags for 18 euros, souvenirs for 6, 8, 12 euros. A set of glasses - 8 euros. T-shirts - from 5 euros.

El Pekinaire Bed and Breakfast ★★

Pekinaire is a modern guest house, small and cozy, located 200 meters from the beach. Good value for money. The owners themselves work, with soul and honesty. Good, albeit not very varied breakfasts, bicycles, free good Wi-Fi, daily cleaning and towel change. The hotel is non-smoking and has private parking.

ALEGRIA Espanya ★★★

Hotel Fergus Espanya is located opposite the beach, next to the historic city. It is not big, but cozy, there is a pool. The staff are friendly. The windows overlook the cafe, so it's noisy, but at 12 o'clock all the noise ends. The food is fresh and varied. The hotel provides beach towels. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, including rooms.

Minus: a train passes in front of the hotel.

Food and restaurants

In Calella restaurants, it is not customary to serve first courses, with the exception of Escudella, a thick Catalan soup that resembles a stew. An inexpensive menu of authentic cuisine is offered at La Tetera Restaurant. All establishments prepare paella: vegetarian, with meat, with seafood - the best options can be tried in San Miguel or Maritim (the latter is famous for its rich fish menu). Casa Carlos is famous for its delicious Catalan salad. For dessert, it is customary to cook a local analogue of French creme brulee - cold crema catalana under hot caramel glaze.

How can I save up to 20% on hotels?

It's very simple - look not only at the booking. I prefer the search engine RoomGuru. He is looking for discounts on Booking and 70 other booking sites at the same time.
