Check-in for Turkish Airlines flights

The company's official website has wide functionality; all information is presented in a simple and conveniently structured manner, so booking tickets and checking in for a flight does not cause difficulties. On the Turkish Airlines website, online check-in for a flight in Russian is selected from the menu. To do this, you need to select the Russian-language menu from the drop-down list at the top of the page.

Important! Online check-in is not available for all airports, so please check this information with the help desk before your flight date.

The advantages of online check-in for a flight are obvious:

  • no queues;
  • saving your own time;
  • independent choice of location.

Registration becomes available one day before the flight. This allows you to undergo the procedure at home even if you have to travel to the airport by bus or train. This way, every passenger can go through the process leisurely, book their favorite seat on the plane, and then head to the airport without haste.

  • First, you need to go to the website page for online check-in for the carrier’s flight;
  • You must enter your ticket number on the page. This is the E-Ticket Number. There you must enter your first and last name (First name and Last name, respectively);
  • After entering the requested data, you must click “Continue”;
  • After confirming that the entered information is correct, the client will be redirected to another page of the official website to select a flight. On the same page you must indicate your citizenship in the Nationality column. There should not be any difficulties with filling out data for the selected flight, since flights available for check-in are highlighted and accompanied by the phrase “Available to Check-in”;
  • As a result, an inscription highlighted in green will appear at the bottom of the data entry form. By checking the appropriate box, the passenger agrees to the check-in rules for the flight. After this, you must confirm the action again by pressing the “Continue” button;
  • If all data is entered correctly, the site will redirect to a page for selecting a location. There is a detailed diagram of the arrangement of seats in the cabin. By right-clicking on the seat he likes, the passenger will see his last name appear opposite the seat icon;
  • Then a proposal to print boarding passes will appear (the inscription “Print”). Please note that after this step it is no longer possible to change the seat, so if the passenger changes his mind, he should select another seat before pressing the “Print” button.

This completes the online registration procedure. Printed sheets will need to be presented at the airport check-in counter.

Hotel accommodation during connections

The company offers free hotel accommodation for long layovers. A passenger of any class can use this service, but there are several conditions:

  1. Free hotel accommodation is only available for international flights with a long layover in Istanbul. The service is not provided for connections in other cities;
  2. Economy class passengers have the opportunity to use the service free of charge only if the connecting time exceeds 10 hours;
  3. For Business Class passengers, the service is provided if the connection in Istanbul takes more than 7 hours;
  4. Free accommodation is possible only if the seat is confirmed and is valid only for passengers whose tickets are issued on the Turkish Airlines stock, that is, the first three digits of the corresponding block in the ticket number correspond to the TK number - 235.

Important to remember! It is not possible to book a free hotel check-in service. You can use the service only by contacting a company representative upon arrival at the international terminal.

The service also includes transfer of the passenger from the terminal to the hotel and back. Each passenger who uses the service is provided with free breakfast at the hotel.

Important! Children under 18 years of age flying unaccompanied by adults are not provided with free accommodation during connecting times.

If the connection lasts more than 6 hours, passengers may be offered a free sightseeing tour to get to know Istanbul. Tours start at 8:30, 9:00, 12:00 and 16:00.

Baggage transportation

What weight of baggage can be carried for free and the cost of excess luggage at TK depends on the class of service and the direction of the flight.

On flights to Europe and Asia, restrictions are imposed on the weight of baggage, but the number of items does not matter. Thus, the weight limit for first class passengers is 60 kg. When purchasing business class tickets, you can carry up to 30 kg of baggage free of charge. For Economy class this value is 23 kg, but for a number of directions this norm has been increased to 30 kg.

For a child under two years of age, the baggage weight limit is 10 kg. You can also transport a baby stroller, but only completely disassembled and provided that the structural parts do not exceed 1150 mm.

Important! The cost of each kilogram of excess baggage is not fixed and depends on the direction of the flight. You need to find out this information directly when purchasing tickets in the desired direction.

For flights to Canada and the USA, the weight standards are different:

  • for first class and business class – 32 kg;
  • for economy class – 23 kg;
  • for a child under two years old – 23 kg.

On TK flights in these directions there are restrictions on the number of items transported and their dimensions. The maximum available number of pieces of luggage for passengers of any class is no more than two pieces. At the same time, in first and business class the dimensions of luggage should not exceed 1580 mm for each item, and economy class passengers must take into account the total size of two pieces of luggage - no more than 2730 mm.

Carry-on baggage is the same in all directions and depends on the class. Business class passengers can carry two items of 8 kg each; for economy class, one piece of hand luggage weighing no more than 8 kg is possible. The size standards allowed for transportation in the cabin are the same for all passengers - no more than 230x400x550 mm.

Important! If a passenger requires additional carry-on baggage space, it must be reserved when purchasing a ticket.

Meals on airplanes

Turkish Airlines has repeatedly received awards for the best in-flight food. And, as noted by passengers who prefer to travel on this carrier’s planes, these awards are fully deserved, because the food is truly very varied.

According to the airline, food should bring true pleasure, so a lot of attention is paid to this issue. The company offers food for every taste. Here everyone can choose the optimal food - a vegetarian, a raw foodist, and a person with religious dietary restrictions.

On board the aircraft, high-quality metal cutlery is used, and not plastic dishes, as is often practiced, but TK or Turkish Airlines uses standard trays. In addition to main courses, passengers can try desserts and sweets for which Turkey is so famous.

The portions are quite large, so passengers will not remain hungry, regardless of the comfort class.

A special feature of the Turkish airline is also the variety of drinks and the absence of restrictions on their quantity.

Flying with a child

The airline is attentive to young passengers. Children on Turkish Airlines planes can travel either with their parents or accompanied by airline representatives when ordering the appropriate service.

Infants are allowed on the plane once they reach one week of age. However, one adult (parent or guardian) can accompany only one newborn. Children whose birth has passed two days are allowed on board, but only if they have a medical certificate confirming the need to fly for treatment.

When flying with babies, parents may need a bassinet. Bassinets for babies are available, but only by prior arrangement. This should be discussed when purchasing tickets.

Important to remember! When traveling with small children, you must inform them about this at check-in, as in this case the passenger will be provided with one of the safest seats in the cabin.

The airline representative must be informed about the need for special nutrition for a newborn or small child when booking tickets, but no later than one day before departure. As a rule, children's meals are provided on airplanes upon request. You should also find out if you can use your own food or formula for feeding, and if there is an option to pre-warm a baby bottle on board.

Children over two years old will not be bored during the flight. The airline offers a range of multimedia entertainment especially for young passengers: children's films and cartoons, music, and exciting educational games. During a long flight, your child will be provided with a blindfold, slippers, a blanket, and a T-shirt to sleep on. To prevent kids from getting bored, coloring books and a set of felt-tip pens are provided on planes.

The airline's flights are carried out by the following aircraft models of different configurations:

The company has six A340-300 aircraft, whose age ranges from 15 to 22 years.

Transportation is also carried out by Boeing aircraft. In total, the company uses 4 types of these airliners:

Also, starting in 2017, deliveries of a new model of the Airbus A321 neo aircraft are expected, and next year the company expects to replenish the fleet with the Boeing 737 MAX 8 model.

Turkish Airlines(Turkish Airlines) is the national carrier of Turkey. The company's headquarters is located in Istanbul, where its main hub airport, the international one, is also located. The airline's additional hubs are Ankara and Istanbul.

Initiative of the Turkish Ministry of Defense

The airline's history began in May 1933, when the country's Ministry of Defense established an air transportation management department called the State Airways Administration. At the time of its creation, the company's fleet included only 5 aircraft with a total number of seats equal to 19, and the number of employees did not exceed 24 (7 pilots, 8 mechanics, 8 office workers and 1 radio operator). Initially, the Turkish State Airlines Authority carried passengers between three cities: Ankara, Eskisehir and Istanbul. In 1938, the airline became part of the Ministry of Transport.

More planes - more destinations

Over the next few years, Turkish Airlines expanded its fleet and flight geography. So, by 1945, the company’s fleet already included 52 aircraft, and the number of destinations increased from 3 to 19. However, at that time these were only domestic flights. The first international flight took place in 1947. It was a flight from Ankara to Athens via Istanbul.

Modern name

Since its founding, the Turkish air carrier has been renamed more than once. It received its modern name - Turkish Airlines - in 1955. The following year, a major reorganization took place, resulting in the airline receiving corporate status.

New horizons for Turkish Airlines

The 1960s and 70s became a period of rapid development for Turkish Airlines. This was greatly facilitated by the transition to jet engines, which marked a new era in civil aviation. During this period, Turkish Airlines intensively expanded its fleet, acquiring the most modern airliners, and continued to increase the number of destinations served. With the acquisition of new long-haul airliners in the 1980s, the possibility of transatlantic flights opened up. In 1988, flights to New York appeared in the airline's route network.

Keep up with the times

In subsequent years, the airline responded sensitively to all changes and trends in the economy, society, and the world of new technologies. This is evidenced, for example, by the privatization policy launched by the government in 1990, when the first 5% of the company's shares were sold. Subsequently, the state parted with a total of 51% of the carrier's shares, which went into private ownership. In the early 2000s, keeping up with the times, Turkish Airlines introduced the sale of electronic tickets and online check-in for flights. The global economic crisis of 2008 prompted the company's management to decide to join the international aviation alliance, of which Turkish Airlines became a member in the same year. Particular attention began to be paid to flight safety. For this purpose, a set of measures was developed that include not only pre-flight preparation and monitoring the technical condition of airliners, but also care for the health of pilots and flight attendants.

For the high quality of service, safety and impeccable work of its employees, Turkish Airlines was recognized as the best airline in Europe for several years in a row (from 2011 to 2016).

The airline Turkish Airlines has been operating since 1933. The head office is located in Istanbul, the main hub is in the city of Ataturk, which is an international port. Additional hubs are Esenborg in Ankara and Sabiha Gokcen in Istanbul. The airline's branches are B&H Airlines, Anadolujet and SunExpress. Since 2008 Turkish Airlines has been a member of Star Alliance. For three years in a row, starting in 2012, Turkish Airlines was included in the TOP 10 of the world's best.
