How to rent a house in Krabi - rent a cozy house in Ao Nang. Is there life on Ao Nang: rent a house in Krabi Rent a house in Krabi for a month

  • 04.09.2021

We rented accommodation in Krabi more than once. When we were wintering in this beautiful Thai province, we rented a house from Oscar for several months, I once showed it on my blog. When they came to see friends for a short time, they stayed in different hotels. But on the last trip, although I was traveling only for the duration of the vacation, I decided to settle in the house again. I really wanted a separate accommodation with its own kitchen and a terrace where you can swing in a hammock on a quiet starry evening. Naturally, finding such accommodation in Krabi is not a problem, and in this post I will share my impression of our cozy wooden house, where Mishutka and I enjoyed our vacation.

When traveling to Asia, I often resort to renting housing through the site, because it provides the broadest choice of non-hotel housing. It may be delusional to try to live in another country in an authentic house or apartment, but it helps me to better plunge into the local atmosphere, because I love this format. Accordingly, to find accommodation in Krabi, the first thing I did was go to www.airbnb.com.

There are a lot of different houses there, especially if you book in advance. But this time I chose meticulously, tk. I wanted to relax as much as possible, and minimal body movements)) It was supposed to be a separate accommodation with a kitchen and a terrace, a swimming pool and a restaurant nearby, a kind of mixture of your home and hotel service. Actually, I found what I was looking for almost immediately!

Green well-groomed area with four wooden detached houses. There is a swimming pool in the center, which was practically empty, because there are very few tenants - there are a minimum of houses.

You can swim even at night! The water in it is really highlighted until about 23 o'clock, then only in complete darkness)) We escaped in it when I was badly burned out and there was no desire to go to the sea. The child did not have to grieve, because he gurgled in the pool

Around flowers, palms and all kinds of tropical vegetation. It seems that the garden is beauty around, but at the same time not boring, sleek, but a feeling of liveliness and wildness.

I especially dazed in the evenings, swinging in a hammock and gazing at the starry sky, listening to the sounds of the jungle, the sound of the wind and music on the phone) Well, Mishutka occupied the hammock in the morning (the title photo for this article), and it's so great that you can go out like this on the terrace right in your linen, while it is still cool and the sun envelops with its gentle light.

Inside, the house is completely wooden, and the overall style is preserved even in the smallest details - even the trash can is wooden and incredibly beautiful oriental ornaments. But, for example, the signs "do not disturb" and "change towels" ...

Feeling creative ?? And so in everything! For example, the windows to the terrace are made of colored corrugated glass. And then it intersects in all design elements - in the closet, in the sash doors, in the mirror, in the chest of drawers, etc. etc.! It's just a delight for the eyes! In this you can feel the love with which these houses are made and how much soul is in them.

On this trip I was very lazy to take pictures, in general I now do it through a stick. Therefore, I practically did not reach the camera, only a couple of times in order to take pictures of my son. Therefore, this review of our house in Krabi is obtained from a portrait angle :) But ... behind Mishutkina's back you can also make out the background, according to which it is at least approximately clear what our housing was like.

The house itself is small, but everything fits perfectly in it - a large bed, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a dressing table with a mirror, sideboards, a TV, an air conditioner. The kitchen has a work area, cupboards, a sink, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, an electric kettle, a coffee maker and all the necessary utensils. The kitchen is small, suitable only for cooking, but there is meant on the veranda, where there are benches and a large wooden table. Of course, there is a toilet with a shower in the house, and also with the preservation of the overall design - even the washbasin is a piece of some kind of wood with a hollowed out recess. Very unusual!

The furniture in the restaurant is made of the same wood. That table, that "chair" - these are sawn pieces of some huge tree. Obviously, everything is perfectly polished and varnished. Looks gorgeous!

The restaurant's menu is quite varied, and the prices are quite loyal. For example, pad thai and Thai rice with chicken cost only 60 baht (~ 2 dollars), various spaghetti (carbonara, bolognese, etc.) - 120 baht (~ 4 dollars), and very tasty pizzas of this normal diameter for 160 baht ( ~ $ 5.5).

Of course, we ate in other places and cooked ourselves too, but there was never a disappointment from food here, because an excellent restaurant with very tasty homemade food (the hostess herself prepares - the cutest taichka, she turns out European dishes with a bang (!), which is not often the case in Asian countries).

I remember when I wrote about Goa, which is an Indian state, not an island, people often asked about housing in Goa, although in theory it would be necessary to look for housing "IN GOA". For it is the same to say that "I went to rest in the Moscow region." Sounds like? In my opinion, no)) And it completely contradicts the rules of the Russian language.
It's the same with Krabi. Krabi is a province, i.e. is also essentially a region of the country, and not an island at all. This means that it is impossible to rest in Krabi, therefore, it is also impossible to look for housing in Krabi. Nevertheless, people ask the search engine in this format. Where it came from is not clear.

Although many will agree that it is not particularly important about housing in Krabi or in Krabi, the main thing is the essence, from which it is clear that a wonderful house in Ao Nang can be rented, both for a short and long term (write to In this case, the hostess will be given discounts for a long time).

We had been planning our trip to Thailand for a very long time. The country attracted us with its originality and exoticism.

In May 2012, fate gave us a wonderful gift. It was a month free from work and other affairs. Without thinking twice, we looked through all the possible offers of airlines for a flight to Thailand.

Traveling with a travel agency was not even considered, as I wanted to stay in the country for at least a month and plunge into the everyday life of Thais.

Fortunately, the required air ticket was found immediately, although usually, in order to buy a cheap flight, you need to book it at least several months in advance. We were lucky, we bought a ticket Moscow-Phuket worth 36 thousand rubles in both directions for two.

We wanted only one thing from the rest - a calm atmosphere, a clean beach, picturesque views and a minimum of other tourists. Well, where would you go with such requirements?

Of course, we did not stay a day in Phuket and went to Krabi province. Initially, of course, we planned to save on travel, but tired of the long flight, we decided to take a taxi. Bargained for $ 150 per car. It was possible, of course, to leave on a regular shuttle bus, which departs from Phuket's bus station several times a day.

We did not book the hotel in advance, so we were very worried if we would have time to get to the province of Krabi before dark. After all, the sun sets in Thailand at 18.00, and we needed to find a place to sleep. Of course, this was a somewhat rash act on our part, but since Since May is considered the beginning of the rainy season, we decided that we could easily find suitable accommodation on site.

Rental housing in Krabi

Not having a clear plan of action, we asked the taxi driver to take us to any inexpensive hotel of his choice to spend the night, and in the morning to start looking for accommodation for the next month. And here we first encountered the Thai mentality, which later we liked more and more. The taxi driver said that he knows a great place where we can settle. And he really brought us to a quiet residential area with small houses that were rented for a period of one month for only 9000 baht. We are so incredibly lucky! But we still advise you not to count on luck, but to select and book a hotel in Krabi in advance.

I will say right away that for lovers of luxury hotels and increased comfort, our choice will seem strange, but we are not pretentious about housing. In addition, I wanted a small, cozy private house with the most necessary set of amenities. We got it. The house was simply buried in greenery, it had one room with a large bed, air conditioning, refrigerator, shower and toilet. In the neighborhood with us there were 7 more of the same houses and a little further a large, castle-like house of the owner. It seemed that the houses were small children of this huge, stately building. We also liked the fact that the nearest beach is only about 5 minutes at a leisurely pace. But we were still lazy and rented a scooter, especially since the rental price is only 100 baht per day.

Krabi beaches

Having tuned in for a long and relaxing vacation, the first week we were engaged only in driving around the neighborhood on a rented moped and going to the beach. By the way, the landscapes in the Krabi province are truly mesmerizing with their beauty!

A moped with which we did not part throughout the rest

Even before the trip, reading reviews of travelers, we more than once met the opinion that the beaches in Krabi are not very good. I don't know who writes this! I have never had such a delight from crystal clear water, rocks sticking out of the ocean and sunsets. Perhaps the garbage that was written about is there, but we definitely did not see it.

Excursions Krabi

Having enjoyed the idleness, we wondered where to go on the excursion. In fact, there are no problems with leaving somewhere. On the street that runs along the beach, there are a large number of small tourist offices. They offer different types of excursions every now and then.

We chose a visit to the Tiger Temple and an excursion called "3 Islands".

Tiger Temple

Amazing place located on the way to the airport. There are a huge number of sculptures on the territory of the temple, but the main charm of the temple complex is the stairs of 1200 steps, and if you overcome them you will get to the top of the mountain on which the huge Buddha sits. From my experience I can say that it is very difficult to climb the stairs, even if you are involved in sports. Believe me, none of our group climbed easily, except for the monk, of course. But the view to the mountain peaks and the blissful feeling of peace and tranquility are worth visiting.

Buddha at the top of the mountain near the Tiger temple

Excursion around the islands

The beginning of the excursion did not bode well, as I had to get up at 6 in the morning. We were picked up by a minibus right from our house and for about an hour we drove around the area, collecting other tourists. I really don't like these collective excursions. Then they loaded them into a boat and drove them alternately across the islands. The beauty, of course, is indescribable, snow-white sand, palm trees, monkeys. All were spoiled by huge crowds of screaming tourists, vendors and beggars. Later we learned that it was possible to rent a separate boat with a Thai on our own and he would take us to other islands where there are no tourists and the nature is completely untouched.

Some will say that our visit to Krabi province was boring, uncomfortable and completely desaturated. But the pleasure we got is incomparable!

By the way, if you are in Ao Nang, go up from the beach, past the Nasha Rasha cafe, stubbornly look to the left! You will see a night market for locals, there are no tourists at all, but there is delicious sushi for only 5 baht apiece, as well as carousels and something else that will surprise you very much. Good luck!

Renting a house in Krabi - is it easy? Especially when on New Year's Eve. Especially when with a child.

Since we went on a trip with 3-month-old Sofia, we wanted to find a home suitable for living with a small child.

We needed at least one separate bedroom, a small kitchen, a terrace for Sofia to be outdoors, Internet for work. We wanted to settle in a quiet, beautiful place. The budget was determined in the region of 15 thousand baht.

Since we arrived in Krabi in October, even before the start of the season, it seemed that we would quickly find what we needed. But the situation began to develop in a completely different way than we expected.

At first we tried to drive in search of a home with 3 month old Sophia. But the child constantly drew attention to himself, and we did not particularly see the house for rent signs.

Or maybe they didn’t notice. Or maybe I didn't have the patience to go around the alleys too methodically. Or maybe some signs have not been posted yet, since we arrived before the start of the season.

Sergey, it seems, also traveled alone, but without success.

Maybe Phuket?

The options we liked were busy. For example, we checked the already well-known "houses on the mountain", which Masha and Ajay wrote about in their blog - full.

By the way, they are not only busy, but also have risen in price (12 thousand with an annual contract and 15 for a shorter period, and in 2010 they cost 8 thousand).

We found several house reviews on the internet (s) to at least understand which part of Ao Nang houses to look for. For a couple of years, the reviews have become outdated. I am writing this so that it is clear how quickly the situation is changing here.

Something stopped giving up. Something has almost doubled in price. Something has been handed over under annual contracts and is practically hopelessly occupied.

Somewhere, like at Oscar House, a global restructuring began. A bunch of new (unfinished at that time) houses, spaced closely, closely, a pool, and high prices (houses began to cost 22 thousand instead of 15, twin rent for 16 thousand with a six-month contract and almost 18, if for a shorter period).

Our mood began to deteriorate. We decided to go to Phuket, thinking that maybe we will find a suitable option there.

But in Phuket, we literally turned around and drove back. We have been to this island many times. But now, with a child, he began to seem too concrete, too built-up, too overloaded.

Nico

At the same time, we decided to look for a house through an agency. And they found Niko's website on the Internet.

Niko is a middle-aged, very endearing Luxembourger who has been living in Thailand for a long time, more than 10 years, in a European way, accurate and adequate.

After talking with him, our hearts were relieved for the first time. Life was beginning to improve.

The first option still turned out to be not very successful for us. We dubbed it to ourselves as "a house that smells of urine."

It was not fresh, with bars on doors and windows, with loud municipal aerobics next door. But two bedrooms, internet. The owner of the Chinese woman wanted 12 thousand for him. Something like in these photos, only with small windows and shabby.

After the first puncture, we formulated that we want the house to be new.

Our home in Dien Dong

He was found in the next 15 minutes.

And he was like a needle. The neighboring twin was not even completed yet, but it only took a couple of days for the last finishing touches. So there seemed to be no prospect of getting an annoying construction site under the windows.

Everything inside is very clean and tidy. New!

Two bedrooms, beautiful location, silence, only 12 thousand baht. There is even a washing machine.

Nearby, 300 meters away, is simply an excellent restaurant, the best in Ao Nang and the surrounding area, Frog and Catfish, run by the Gerry and Bois Kennedy family. Here you could use the swimming pool free of charge.

The views are crazy.

True, we did not have the Internet in our house yet. But Phom, the owner of the house, said that she had already signed a contract and the Internet would be available in 3 days.

Everything suited us. We signed a contract for 4 months. We paid for a month of rent and a deposit for another 2 months, a total of 36 thousand baht.

This is how we moved in cheerfully.

In the evening, absolutely happy, we went to bed. But what is THIS?

Bz-bz-bz. After five seconds: bz-bz-bz. After another five seconds: bz-bz-bz. And so all night. A long, unbearable night to the sounds that during the day we mistook the sounds of a construction site in a nearby twin.

Thus began our struggle with the pump roaring under the bedroom window, maintaining the pressure in the water supply system. The pump was unsuccessfully installed directly on the foundation of the house, because of which it vibrated and literally buzzed.

The next day, the pump was somehow reinstalled, at least removed from the foundation of the house.

After 7 days, the pump broke and was replaced. After another 7 days, dirty water came from the tap, and the white towels in the washing machine turned bright brick color.

It was then that we remembered that this village is called Dien Dong, which in Thai means "red earth".

For a couple of weeks we sat without water every other day.

And the Internet, without which we could not work, was not spent either in three days or in three weeks.

Looking again ...

We started looking for another home. Naturally, in mid-November, the situation with the houses in Ao Nang became even worse.

Niko said that in Ao Nang full. By the way, the house of the Chinese woman, that "smelling of urine" that we disdained, went for 20 thousand ...

We saw such a traditional Thai house,

huge, but awkward and uncomfortable, with a huge price of 20 thousand baht ...

... and a twin in the center of a Muslim village, with a construction site directly opposite, for 15 thousand, with a contract for at least three months and payment for the entire period at once.

Another house for 15. We almost agreed to it, despite the fact that this is a studio, and here we would be uncomfortable. But from what we've seen, this was the prettiest option. True, in the room, literally before our eyes, a small scorpion hit, that is, the door-windows here are somewhere with cracks.

Long Search Reward

And then, thanks to a chain of some incredible accidents, we ourselves, without agencies, found this house.

The sign on the house read: Home for rent. Home, not house! And so it happened, for 25 thousand a month we got an absolutely incredible house, which became our Home.

The price for this village is incredibly low. So we surprised Niko's agency.

The house is located in a cottage village. The village, by the way, is fabulously beautiful.

The view from the window did not disappoint either:

In addition, there is a communal swimming pool.

And the gym.

The house has 3 bedrooms. Masterbedroom, guest bedroom, and from one we made a small study.

Kitchen (now we have already rearranged something and it is more inhabited):

Living room:

BBQ area:

We immediately appreciated the delights of living in a well-organized place. For example, in Thailand, it is usually a problem to find where to dispose of garbage. Here the garbage is taken out, drinking water is brought in, the lawn is cut, the house is cleaned, if desired, the village is guarded (as a result, we even began to forget to close the house when going for a walk).

The nearest 7-Eleven can be reached on foot. To the sea, if you wish, it is also possible - to Noparattara one and a half km. And right on the beach there are no houses at all.

Since houses in Thailand are rented mostly made of cardboard, such a house is an opportunity not to walk on tiptoe at all while the child is sleeping. The kitchen is far away, you can safely do the housework. There is something to compare, our previous home in Dien Dong was in this sense a sheer nightmare.

P.S. About deposit

But the story with the house in "Krasnaya Zemlya" was not over at that time. Through her assistant, Niko Phom said that the deposit would not be returned to us, since we were leaving on our own.

Despite this information, we still smiled at Pkhom and communicated as if nothing had happened. After all, she hasn’t said anything directly to us yet.

Since there was no fault of ours either with the Internet or with fanfare, we counted on the most peaceful resolution of the situation.

Since we know literally a few words in English Pkhom, in the morning, on the day of departure, we received a note from her: “We like you. Therefore, this is the calculation ... "

So the situation was completely over and resolved.

I wrote my conclusions and advice about renting houses in Krabi.

While searching for a house, you can stay in Ao Nang in one of the hotels (see all available options on the largest hotel booking website Booking.com) or apartments (a large selection + a bonus for registration of RUB 907 on the leading website in this segment

According to many "seasoned" travelers, it is almost impossible to rent decent ladies in Krabi during the high season. We decided to heed their advice and planned our move in mid-April, when housing becomes more affordable and cheaper.

Sections in an article

On the second day of our stay in Krabi province, armed with a map and a telephone, we went in search of good accommodation on the Ao Nang beach. Our plans were to find a nice, bright one-bedroom house with a swimming pool and a spacious veranda. The budget for this campaign was around 12,000 baht.

WHERE WE LOOKED FOR ACCOMMODATION: AO NANG BEACH

Ao Nang is the most popular tourist area, full of hotels, apartments and private houses. But despite the apparent diversity, the situation on the local real estate market has not changed since 2011: the same houses that people wrote about two years ago are still being rented. Therefore, in the hot season, the price tag even for the most "rotten" options rises to the skies, because demand during this period exceeds supply. But starting from April, the influx of tourists is decreasing, the cost drops sharply, and houses are vacated one after another.

How things are on other beaches in Krabi province in terms of rental housing, I do not know. But on the other hand, I can definitely say about the pros and cons of the Ao Nang coast.

Pros of Ao Nang Beach: well-developed infrastructure, active nightlife, very beautiful views

Cons of Ao Nang Beach: muddy water in the sea (in the heat it looks more like a puddle), garbage is scattered in the corners, the aromas of which spoil the air.

HOUSE FOR RENT IN KRABI: OUR OBSERVATIONS

1. Rental price

The cost of renting housing in Krabi, like nowhere else, depends on the season. For example, our house from December to April rented out twice as expensive as it is now. The cost reduction may be affected by the conclusion of a long-term contract from a year.

2. Utility bills

In most cases, electricity, water and internet are included in the rental price. We came across only one German owner who asked for 9 baht per 1 kW, since his previous tenants burned him electricity a month about 4000 baht.

3. Private house or resort?

The houses, which are rented out for a long period from year to year on Ao Nang, are gradually developing to the level of a resort. For example, in our house, the electricity is turned on and off with a key, and if we conclude a contract for three months or more, then the price also includes cleaning. As a result, the difference between a resort and a regular home is only in the price.

By the way, if you wish, you can negotiate a long-term lease with the hotel owners. The calculation of the cost per night in this case will be reduced to 30%, and during the low season - to 50%.

4. Bargain and bargain again!

This rule works especially well during the low season, when most tourists leave for home, and houses are doomed to be empty until November. At this moment, every farang is worth its weight in gold! You can throw off about two thousand at once, and then according to the circumstances. In high season, this tip will no longer be relevant, but starting in May, you can save a lot!

IMPORTANT PLACES: LAUNDRY, WHERE TO FILL WATER, WHERE TO FILL THE BIKE

Laundrythere is almost every corner. It can be a single washing machine or a full service. The cost for "washing" varies from 20 to 40 baht.

Buy drinking water you can in any store or in a water pump, which are ubiquitous in Asia. Tap water, of course, should not be drunk under any circumstances and in any form. We found only one vodomat on Ao Nang, and we regularly collect water there for cooking and just drinking. The cost of 1 liter is 1 baht. As long as everyone is alive and well 🙂

Gas stations in Krabi there are plenty, but at every step there are also special machines. True, the cost of gasoline they have is prohibitive - 1 liter 52 baht for 95.

HOUSES IN CRABI ON AO NANG BEACH: WITH POOL AND WITHOUT

House # 1: Banburee resort

Banburi Resort has very bright and sunny houses without a living room. Roughly speaking, there is only a bedroom and a separate kitchen here, which in general looks quite harmonious. True, I am a little embarrassed that at the entrance you immediately come across a large bed.

The original price of the house is 12,000 baht. But the owner immediately made a discount of 2,000 baht. It seems to me that if we had pressed a little, we would have rented an apartment for 9000. Utility bills and the Internet are included in the price.

House # 2: Big beautiful house with a living room

A very large, cozy and bright house a few kilometers from the beach with a living room and a bedroom. Inside, it is equipped with all the necessary furniture: from pots to a TV set.

The original price is 10,000 baht. Utility bills are included in the price.

House number 3: House for a very large company

We were not going to rent such a whopper, but for the sake of curiosity, we decided to take a walk through these mansions. The house has five bedrooms, two floors (there is a large attic on the second floor), two dressing rooms, a large veranda and a living room. This is ideal for a large and friendly company. As for the furniture, the owners promised to furnish the premises immediately after payment (apparently, there was only enough money for construction). Hence the condition: long-term lease from 3 months.

Price per month: 30,000 baht. Utility bills are included in the price.

House number 3 on the world map

House # 4: Aonang Mountain Paradise - unreasonably high price

Quite small houses near the coast of Ao Nang, located on the territory of the hotel. Accordingly, the pool is shared here, and the price includes cleaning of the premises. At the reception, the administrator, after consulting the owner on the phone for a long time, announced the cost - 20,000 baht. Of course, this price is greatly overpriced, since there is little space inside, there is no living room and kitchen. The maximum discount in our case was 5000 baht. But on one of the sites, people wrote that they rented these houses for 10,000 baht.

Price: 15,000 baht. Utility bills are included in the price.

House # 5: Beautiful house in a resort with a living room

Spacious house with a separate living room, kitchen and bedroom, geographically located on a small hill near the coast. The view from the windows opens onto a green wasteland and a giant rock. There is a communal but very small swimming pool not far from the house. Since this group of houses belongs to the hotel, the price, respectively, is rather big - 40,000 baht.

Price: 40,000 THB. Utility bills are included in the price.

House number 5 on the world map

House 6: Sabai Residence - small apartment type apartments

Apartment-type apartments with European-quality renovation and a large veranda. Inside there is all the necessary furniture, kitchen, bedroom, living room. But, despite the abundance of rooms, the feeling of a closed space is created, when there is nowhere even to step. Although outwardly we liked the apartment, and we seriously thought about renting. Only the cost did not suit us - 20,000 baht per month. On condition of a long-term lease of three months or more, we were offered a discount of 5000 baht.

Price: 15,000 baht. Electricity is not included in the price - 9 baht / kW

House # 7: Cozy houses with a separate kitchen in the resort

This group of houses is partly owned by the hotel, but most of the buildings are bought by Thais and are rented out monthly. On the left side there are apartments without a living room, but with a kitchen and a small veranda.

On the right are separate houses, where the bedroom is separated from the living room by a partition, and the kitchen is located at the back of the room. The pool on the territory of the condominium is shared.

Price: 15,000 baht (apartment), 18,000 baht (detached house). Utility bills are included in the price.

House number 7 on the world map

House # 8: Oscar Villa - perfect price / quality ratio

Oscar Villa is a group of one and two bedroom houses with a communal pool. We liked this option right away, but there were some doubts about the convenience of housing.

Externally, the condominium looks very stylish, but I was a little confused by the layout: two separate houses adjoin under one roof, united by a common veranda. The area is planted with bushes and trees, and views from the windows overlook the communal pool.

The inside of the house is no less attractive than the outside, and is a small studio apartment. The first thing that catches your eye is the perfect renovation, tasteful furniture and a breathtaking bathtub with many shelves. But the most important part of the house is the air conditioner, which can be turned on around the clock, since electricity is already included in the price.

In addition to all the benefits of modernity, the house has fast internet, good sound insulation and excellent daylight thanks to glazed doors and many windows.

Price: THB 13,000 in low season / 24,000 in high season

House # 9: Mysterious Palm Resort: It Can't Be Cheaper

If you tidy up a little here, live quietly and keep your head down, you can save a lot on renting a house with a private pool!
