How to save on buying air tickets. The stingy one buys in advance

  • 11.01.2024

An airplane is the most convenient transport for traveling around the world. It allows you to cover vast distances in a matter of hours. The flight takes place in comfortable conditions for passengers. All the benefits of air travel are slightly overshadowed by the high cost of tickets.

If you have planned an air flight and want to save money when purchasing tickets, we recommend that you study the advice of experienced experts, listening to which you can purchase cheap air tickets for a flight to your chosen destination.

Buy air tickets online

Prices for tickets for the same flight at the airline's stationary ticket office and on the Internet website differ significantly. Companies set inflated prices for tickets at the box office, taking into account the costs of employee salaries, office rent, costs of printing documents, etc.

Online tickets are sold at a lower price, so to save money we recommend purchasing a flight document online on the website. You can familiarize yourself with the advantages of purchasing a plane ticket on the Internet.

Follow airline promotions and special offers

Airlines regularly run promotions that allow passengers to buy tickets at reduced prices. Special offers often apply to flights departing at inconvenient times or on weekdays.

As a rule, promotions are carried out in the event of a large balance of unsold tickets for a particular flight. They begin a few days before departure.

If your trip does not require strict time and date restrictions, you can use this method to buy cheap tickets to your chosen destination.

Take a closer look at charter or last-minute flights

Tickets for charter flights can be purchased at a lower price. Last minute airfare rates are also attractive.

Last minute tickets are sold by travel companies. As a rule, they purchase tickets from the carrier in advance at a low market price with the expectation of selling them to tourists. But these forecasts do not always come true; a significant part of the tickets may remain without demand. Tour operators have to quickly sell purchased tickets at a reduced price, just to get back the money spent on their purchase.

Such offers can be found literally a few days before the flight departure. This method is risky, since the probability of selling last-minute tickets for the desired flight is approximately 50/50. It is not suitable for passengers who have specific plans for air travel without delays or rescheduling. But to save your budget without restrictions on the date and time of departure - this option is 100% suitable!

Take advantage of cheap plane tickets from low-cost airlines

The cost of tickets for low-cost airline flights is noticeably lower than the prices for standard flights. True, flights on such liners have some disadvantages: there are restrictions on the transportation of passengers' luggage, there is no food on board, etc.

Some low-cost airlines allow the carriage of a small travel bag with a certain weight limit. Other carriers offer transportation of personal luggage for a fee, according to the current tariffs. All details need to be clarified in advance.

If you have planned a trip to another city or country for several days, for example, on a work visit, and do not have a lot of luggage, we suggest buying cheap tickets for low-cost airlines. The only thing you need to take into account is the impossibility of returning purchased tickets if necessary.

There are also restrictions on destinations. For example, you can fly from Moscow on a low-cost airline in only two directions. As an option, develop a route with transfers. We invite you to familiarize yourself with -.

Having reached the transit point, you can transfer to a plane of budget airlines flying to different countries of the world. To avoid any unpleasant problems while traveling, buy tickets in advance for transit flights departing from another country.

Book tickets on the “right” days and times

According to statistics, the cheapest tickets are sold on Tuesdays, mainly from 15:00. Advantageous offers from airlines are often published at night.

High ticket prices are set on Friday. Carriers are raising fares, taking advantage of the high demand for flights on weekends. Simply put, the cheapest tickets can be bought for departure on a weekday and at “inconvenient” times for passengers - late night and early morning hours. More detailed information can be read in this.

Keep track of seasonality

The cost of a one-way plane ticket is noticeably higher during the holiday season. Companies monitor the flow of tourists and increase tariffs at the most popular time of year. Inflated prices are observed during the holidays for children, because many families often plan vacations between school days.

If you check the fares to the selected destination during the holiday season and off-season, you will notice a significant difference in ticket prices.

If you want to save on tickets to travel to another country in the world, plan your flight in the off-season. Such a vacation will not only save your travel budget. During the unclaimed period in resort towns, prices for housing and various services are reduced, there are no queues at museums and other places of interest, there are no crowds of tourists around the city, on the beaches and in public institutions. Simply put, there are a lot of benefits to taking a vacation during the off-season, so consider it the best travel option in every way.

Fly for the holidays

On pre-holiday days, ticket prices increase noticeably, which is not surprising. A significant part of passengers strive to fly shortly before an upcoming event in order to be in the right place at the right time in a timely manner.

If you are more interested in saving money, buy tickets for flights departing on holidays.

Buy air tickets in both directions at once

If you are planning a round trip flight to another country, buy plane tickets in two directions at once. If necessary, you can always. In addition, many countries in the world have restrictions on the entry into the country of foreigners who do not have return plane tickets.

The cost of a two-way ticket is always lower, which will already allow you to save on flight costs.

Use transit flights and stopovers

For long-distance travel while saving on budget, flying is an excellent solution. The passenger will not have to spend a long number of hours on the ship. Between transit connections, the traveler will have enough time to rest before the next flight. And transit travel often allows you to save a lot on the cost of purchasing tickets.

Many travelers choose routes with stopovers, which means a long period of time between transfers, up to 3 days. During this period, a tourist can not only relax before the next flight, but also get to know a foreign city and see the sights.

Pay with miles

Regularly traveling passengers have the opportunity to collect miles, which can be used to pay for tickets to any chosen destination.

How to collect miles: after the flight, go to the airline’s website, register and enter your ticket number. The number of miles for the flight will be displayed on the screen. Collect them and when purchasing tickets for another aircraft of the same airline, make a payment minus miles.

Many Russian carriers operate a loyalty program for travelers. You can also spend the collected miles on other services - rent a hotel room, rent a car, go to a SPA salon, etc.

Using the advice of experienced experts, you can travel to different countries of the world with a minimum expenditure on your flight budget. Buy tickets online, choose unclaimed days and times for air travel, and do not ignore the possibility of transit flights and stopovers. We are sure that our tips will definitely be useful to every traveler who wants to save money on tickets.

Due to the fact that we travel quite a lot and, as a result, constantly fly on airplanes, friends and acquaintances often turn to us asking for advice on how to fly to a particular country as cheaply as possible.

We tell you, sometimes we help you search for tickets, arrange them and purchase them, but now we decided to write detailed instructions so that it would be useful for those who do not dare to ask.

In this article, we will not describe in detail how to book a ticket on a specific website, but we will describe the possibilities of searching for cheap air tickets.

When we lived in St. Petersburg, low-cost airlines were our favorite way to travel around Europe - and indeed, if it is possible to buy a ticket to Europe for 10 euros, then, in our opinion, it is simply blasphemous not to use it :) We also used the websites of low-cost airlines to search tickets for domestic flights in the USA, and now we fly with low-cost airlines in Asia.

Low-cost airlines - a term that is a copy of the English "low cost" (low cost), has firmly taken root in the Russian language. They are also called discounters and low-cost airlines. Low-cost airlines offer very low rates by reducing the traditional range of services.

Many people are wary of flying on these airlines, thinking that safety may be compromised due to the low price, but in reality other factors reduce the cost. Most often this is:

  • lack of food on board;
  • baggage restrictions;
  • lack of fixed seats in the cabin (this encourages passengers to board the plane as quickly as possible and reduces the gaps between flights);
  • use of non-primary airports;
  • use of one type of aircraft in the airline (allows to reduce the cost of maintenance and personnel training);
  • inability to return tickets or change flight dates;
  • short direct flights – often no more than 3 hours
  • absence of ticket offices – search for tickets, as a rule, can only be done on the airline’s website

Our favorite discounter at one time was the Irish company Ryanair, which flies to 27 European countries. Its main advantage is the availability of flights from Finland (Turku, Tampere and Lappeenranta). By the way, due to its proximity to St. Petersburg (220 km), Lappeenranta is jokingly called “Pulkovo-3” :)

The average cost of a flight between European countries with low-cost airlines is 30 euros, but we managed to find and buy tickets for 10-15 euros (sometimes they are even sold for 1 cent, you only need to pay fuel surcharges).

Ryanair's management is constantly striving to reduce costs and thereby reduce the price of a ticket (while making money on large volumes of traffic and additional services), with their sometimes crazy ideas, while simultaneously doing good PR for themselves. Here are a few high-profile initiatives that the airline planned to introduce :

  • tax on fat people;
  • standing chairs;
  • paid toilets on board

Ryanair, of course, is not the only low-cost airline; for example, you can fly from Helsinki using the services of EasyJet (we flew to Paris for 25 euros).

There are also companies that fly from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland: Blue1, AirBaltic, Air Berlin, EasyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air
Low-cost airlines in the USA: Frontier Airlines, Jetblue, Virgin America,
in Asia: Airasia, Jetlite, Jetstar, Spicejet, Air India Express, FireFly, Fly Kingfisher, Tiger Airways

When searching for and purchasing tickets on low-cost airlines, you should be aware of additional expenses that may arise during the flight:

  • service fee for payment by bank card;
  • payment for checked baggage;
  • cost of transfer to the airport of departure and from the airport of arrival

Search for charter flights

Flights operated by carriers for a specific customer, such as a tour operator. Most often, charter flights are used to transport tourists on vacation. voucher, but in cases where some of the vouchers remain unsold, the tour operator sells air tickets separately - usually such offers appear literally 1-2 days before departure.

To search, you can contact directly tour operators operating in the destination you are interested in, or search through aggregators of charter offers, for example http://www.aviacharters.ru/

Minuses:

  • inability to buy a ticket in advance;
  • often inconvenient departure times;
  • possible last minute change in departure time;
  • only popular tourist routes;
  • The service is not the best level.

Promotions on official airline websites

It is worth keeping in mind that flying with a budget airline will not necessarily be cheaper. “Regular” carriers also often have good offers and promotions, so it makes sense to periodically browse their websites and subscribe to newsletters. For example, we bought promotional tickets from St. Petersburg to Rome and Barcelona for 8,000 rubles, and to Nice for 7,000 rubles. (price for round trip ticket).

General recommendations:

  • try to look for and buy tickets as early as possible - most often the price increases as tickets are sold;
  • “play” with searching for tickets - prices may vary depending on the day of the week and other factors (for example, tickets for Tuesday are often cheaper than for Friday) - if you do not have a clear reference to dates, the likelihood of buying a cheap plane ticket increases;

Ticket search engines

There are a huge number of airlines and checking the cost of tickets for each is quite tedious. Instead, it’s easier to use special “ticket search engines” sites (meta-search engines, super-aggregators). Such sites search for tickets by airlines, booking systems and agencies.

They themselves do not have their own database and do not sell tickets, but redirect them to the website of the agency or airline. Often, using such a search, you can buy a ticket cheaper than on the airline’s website (agencies can give discounts from their commissions due to the large volume of sales), but it happens the other way around, some take additional commissions.

All super-aggregators search for tickets using almost the same agencies and airlines, but the results are still often different, especially on indirect flights, where there are a large number of possible connections.

Tickets are also searched for most low-cost airlines, but, unfortunately, some of them, in order to save on agent fees, do not provide information about their flights to search engines (for example, this applies to Ryanair).

In general, metasearch engines differ in three parameters:

  • airline coverage,
  • Ease of use,
  • special functions;

Sometimes we use aviasales.ru, but most often skyscanner.ru - in our opinion, this is the most convenient and functional search engine. This service has a number of advantages:

  • most often gives the lowest price;
  • it is possible to search for tickets without specifying the city, for example, “Moscow – Italy” or “Russia – France”;
  • ticket search is very fast;
  • nice and convenient interface;
  • low price calendar (you can select a date when tickets on the same route are cheaper)
  • subscription to price notification by e-mail;
  • price dynamics to a specific city by month, from which you can find out in what period tickets are usually cheaper;
  • list of special offers from airlines;
  • “smart” recognition of the entered city (understands names with errors, typos, as well as those typed in transliteration);
  • the ability to swap the cities of departure and arrival with one click (a small thing, but nice);
  • The creators of the site are also travelers and currently live in Phuket. This fact has little effect on the ability to find a cheap air ticket, but explains the rich functionality of the site - apparently the guys took into account their rich experience in searching for tickets when creating the service

If you still have questions about finding cheap air tickets, ask them in the comments, we will be happy to answer.

Compensation for flight delay or cancellation

This point does not relate to searching for tickets, but it is also very important, so we decided to include it in this article. Not many people know this, but if you have been notified of a delayed or canceled flight at the airport, either less than 14 days before your departure date, or have been denied boarding, you may receive up to €600 in addition to the amenities the airline must provide. compensation.

An airplane is fast and convenient. But air travel eats up the lion's share of a traveler's budget.

We know everything about air tickets and even more. Therefore, we have selected 14 ways to help you buy a cheap air ticket. This is a practical guide for those who want to see the world and save money.

Method number 1 - buy a ticket in advance

Experienced travelers know: the earlier you start looking for a ticket, the greater your chances of saving. Air tickets go on sale 330 days before departure. But, as practice shows, the optimal period for purchase is 60 days.

Important! Carefully study the terms of return and exchange (anything can happen in 2 months). According to Russian laws, a ticket can be returned no later than 24 hours before the departure of the aircraft. But this is only true for domestic air carriers. Non-refundable tickets are a common practice for foreign airlines.

Method number 2 – fly on the right days

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the cheapest days for some airlines. From Friday to Sunday, as well as on holidays, tickets are more expensive.

Important! This rule does not work on popular business destinations - business people fly on weekdays.

Method number 3 - looking for a ticket at the right time

Important! Sometimes a trip begins with a lucrative special offer from the airline.

Method number 9 – use bonuses

Airlines have loyalty programs (cumulative bonus systems). Air Canada has Aeroplan, British Airways has Executive Club, Aeroflot has Aeroflot Bonus, etc.

Bonuses (miles, points, points) can be spent on purchasing tickets for this airline and various additional services. To save money on air travel using bonuses, you need to fly a lot, use the services of the same airline (or alliance) and join the bonus program.

Important! Bonus tickets are not always easy to buy.

Method number 10 – use aggregators

Modern air ticket search engines collect information from dozens of airlines, tour operators and agencies. For example, it processes information from 5 reservation systems, 45 agencies and 728 airlines. Thanks to this, you can find a really cheap air ticket.

Important! The prices offered by search engines are often more attractive than the price tags on airline websites. The reason is that many carriers perceive metasearch engines as a way to attract new passengers, and are willing to reduce the cost for customers who come through such a search engine in the hope that they will return again and again.

Method No. 11 – resort to IT life hacks

Experienced life hackers recommend: look for tickets in incognito mode, use proxies from other countries, as well as Windows or Ubuntu. This way you can get more objective data, since it is believed that search engines are more biased towards Mac users and residents of rich countries. In addition, aggregators store a history of requests and know approximately how much each user is willing to pay for an air ticket.

Important! Such life hacks do not always work, but they are never superfluous.

Method number 12 – fly OpenJaw

OpenJaw is an incomplete circular route where the arrival and departure points do not coincide. For example, you fly from Moscow to Berlin, and fly to Moscow from Dresden. Or you fly from Moscow to Berlin, and return from Berlin to Kaluga. You will have to travel from the airport to your destination by ground transport. This method is cheaper, since each airport has its own fees. In non-capital air bays they are usually lower.

Important! If the “transit” airport is too far from the final destination, saving money against the background of time costs is doubtful.

Method number 13 – fly low-cost airlines

A low-cost airline (or discounter) is a low-cost airline that offers low ticket prices by reducing passenger services. Namely - food and entertainment on board, insurance, baggage allowance, etc. These and other services are provided for an additional fee.

Low-cost airlines, as a rule, use one type of aircraft, do not divide passengers into classes, operate short (no more than 4 hours) direct flights, are based at secondary airports and fly at inconvenient times.

Each low-cost company's aircraft makes several flights per day. One non-flight due to weather conditions means the entire schedule is disrupted. “Budget” planes are often delayed and are only suitable for those who don’t mind spending a couple of extra hours at the airport. In addition, if you are flying with connections, you may miss your connecting flight if the discounter is late.

Method number 14 – fly charters

A charter is an irregular flight operated for a specific customer. Most often, the customer is a travel agency. The conclusion from this is that charter flights fly to popular tourist destinations and it is quite difficult to buy an air ticket for them (without a package tour).

But it is possible. The first way is to contact a travel agency or use a special service.

Important! Search engines like Aviasales also search by charter.

Now you know almost everything about cheap air travel. We hope that our advice will be useful to you more than once in practice.

And if you know other life hacks on how to save on air tickets, welcome in the comments.

Looking for cheap air tickets and wasting a lot of time?! Here are some important tips that will really save you time, nerves and money.

1. Look for tickets on the Internet in “incognito” mode

Have you noticed that during your search, the price of the same flight changes several times, and upwards? This is a trick of many search engine sites. By using a cookie in your browser, the site increases the price of flights that you have already searched for several times, so that you quickly decide to buy. Therefore, always search for the flight tickets you need in incognito mode or a private tab to see the lowest prices. Private browser tabs do not use your old cookies, so there will be no increase in ticket prices. Cookies are reset every time you open a private tab. Therefore, in order to start each search for air tickets with a clean slate, close all incognito windows, then open a new one and start searching.

2. Use the best search engines

Another way to save on air tickets is to use aggregator sites. Modern air ticket aggregators present offers from hundreds of airlines from around the world, including low-cost low-cost airlines and even charter flights. Airlines often offer lower fares to aggregator clients (to actively attract new customers). Here are some of the most famous aggregators - Aviasales, Tutu.ru, Ozon travel, City.Travel.

In the process of 2018, most of the low cost airlines will also appear in broad search engines (aggregators). Nevertheless, we should not forget about a targeted search for cheap air tickets on the websites of budget airlines themselves; sometimes there are promotional tickets there.

It's best to check prices for a specific flight in everyone(!) search engine (aggregator) to find the best offer.

3. Early booking of tickets

If you already know for sure several months in advance when and where you can fly, don’t miss the opportunity to save on air tickets. Most companies offer basic fares several months before departure and gradually increase prices. The fewer tickets left, the higher the prices.

4. Search for charter flights

A great way to save on flights is to search for cheap flights on special services where travel agencies dump their unsold charters.

Charters are a flight specially ordered by a tour operator, it is irregular, departs on a specific date and time, which can easily be changed on the day of departure, you need to be prepared for this.

Tickets for such flights can be found on the following websites:

  • chartex.ru
  • tourdom.ru
  • aviacharters.ru

5. Use airline or airline alliance loyalty systems

Almost every major airline has a similar program. It is relevant for those who always use the services of the same airline. For each flight, you are awarded miles, which you can accumulate and use to buy air tickets, or enjoy company privileges (business class flights, comfortable lounges, purchasing various goods with miles, etc.)

The most famous in Russia:

  • Aeroflot Bonus
  • Lufthansa Miles & More
  • S7 Priority
  • Miles&Smiles

Here's a little guide on how to earn and use miles:

  1. Register for the loyalty program on the airline's website. We also recommend subscribing to the newsletter so as not to miss various special offers and news about the bonus system. Typically, you will receive a plastic card to earn miles.
  2. Present this card at the airport upon check-in for each flight. In some companies, miles can be credited after the flight through the airline's website or app.
  3. Many airline loyalty programs are affiliated with bank affiliate programs, including debit cards. This way you can earn double miles on one flight. Also, with the help of such debit cards you can accumulate miles for the most common purchases in stores.
  4. The more miles, the higher the status. You will have access to comfortable waiting rooms, a separate transfer to the plane, an increased baggage allowance, the ability to exchange an economy class ticket for a business one, etc.
  5. Keep an eye out for special offers, some flights will earn you 2 or 3 times the miles.

6. Buy tickets with transfers

As a rule, such tickets are cheaper from regular airlines. The logic is simple - everyone loves direct flights and therefore they are more willing to buy them. That is why direct flights will a priori be sold at a higher price. For example, a Moscow-Berlin or Moscow-Vienna flight will cost more than a Moscow-Vienna-Berlin flight.

In addition, many direct flights have a monopoly. Thus, only Aeroflot and the airline of the destination country have the right to operate direct flights from Moscow. But many airlines have the right to make connecting flights, and here the struggle for the client begins.

If you need to fly to Paris, for example, look for a connecting flight through Paris. Moscow-Paris will be more expensive than Moscow-Paris-Rome. However, be careful in this case! Your trip will end in Paris, but your luggage could easily fly to Rome, so these trips are suitable for travelers with carry-on luggage.

If you often travel by air, be sure to purchase a debit card, where cashback is returned in miles. It is indeed very convenient and, most importantly, profitable.

You can look at Alfa-Bank debit cards (now they are the most profitable and popular). For example, with an AlfaTravel debit card, cashback in miles can be up to 9%. And in the premium version – up to 11%. Miles can be spent on purchasing tickets for ANY airline and, by the way, the accumulated miles never expire, even if you have not used them for a long period. In addition to rewards in miles, the bank provides free Internet roaming, free cash withdrawals and much more.

A Travel debit card from Otkritie Bank will be no less beneficial for travelers. Among its advantages: a good welcome bonus, 4.5% on your account balance, a refund of up to 4 rubles for every 100 rubles spent, etc. Well, if you are not yet familiar with the topic of debit cards, we recommend reading our article

Experienced travelers know well how and where to buy cheap plane tickets. This allows them to save tens of thousands of rubles a year. There are no special secrets here. To do this, you just need to know how to use the Internet, have a little patience and be careful. In this article, we will give you 8 of the most effective and proven tips on how to save money when buying air tickets. If you still don’t know how to fly cheaply to anywhere in the world, then this material is for you!

There are many websites, so-called ticket search engines or ticket aggregators, that search for tickets from various agencies, airlines, and booking systems. They allow you to save time - you don’t have to look for great deals on the websites of each airline - and, often, save money. In Russia, the most famous search engine is Aviasales. Conveniently, the site, among other things, has a low-price calendar, which shows the best deals for flights in one direction or another during a certain period of time, and a low-price map, which shows the most interesting cost options for flights to different parts of the world. If a person is not in a hurry or does not know in which direction he wants to travel, he can safely book the ticket that the site has determined to be the cheapest.

Other popular ticket search engines among Russian tourists:

  • Skyscanner.ru;
  • Momondo.ru;
  • Biletexpert.ru;
  • Onetwotrip.com.

The search engines themselves do not sell tickets, but redirect users to pages where they can make a purchase. There is no universal portal; all sites work with different databases, and on each of them you can find some special offers.

Low-cost airlines (translated from English, the concept “low cost” means “low cost”) are companies that offer passengers very low fares, which are formed by deducting a set of options and services from the offer:

  • no meals are offered on board;
  • baggage allowances are either severely restrictive or offer baggage transportation as a paid service (excluding hand luggage);
  • return tickets are not accepted, nor are they allowed to change the departure date;
  • it is not possible to reserve seats;
  • If you need transfer services from one airport to another, for example, during a transit flight, such a trip must be paid for separately.

If you have heard that someone flies across Europe for 10 euros, this most likely means that the person uses the services of low-cost airlines. As a rule, ticket search engines are reluctant to work with such companies and do not always show “low cost” flight options. Typically, low-cost airlines offer tickets costing 30-40 euros, if we talk about flights within Europe, but sometimes there are cheaper options: There are cases when passengers are given tickets for free and are asked to pay only fuel surcharges. You need to look for offers on the company’s website or on special portals (Azair.eu, Kiwi.com and others).

Famous low-cost airlines:

  • "Victory";
  • EasyJet;
  • AirBaltic;
  • Wizz Air;
  • Air Berlin;
  • Ryanair;
  • AirAsia;
  • Tiger Airways;
  • Air India Express.

Charter flights can be even cheaper than flying on low-cost airlines. These are flights for which large companies, such as travel agencies, buy tickets and then offer them as part of package tours. If the plane is not completely full and there is a risk that nothing much will change by the day of travel, companies offer “last minute tours” or “last minute” tickets - at very competitive prices.

Disadvantages of charter flights:

  • tickets are usually put up for sale several days, and sometimes even a day before the flight, so they cannot be purchased in advance;
  • often flights are scheduled at inconvenient night or morning times;
  • companies can change the departure time at the very last moment, so you will have to spend several hours waiting at the airport;
  • Charter flights are carried out only between capitals and popular tourist cities.

You can buy such tickets on the websites of travel companies or through special ticket search engines: Aviacharters.ru, Clickavia.ru, Chabooka.ru, Tourdom.ru.

Tip No. 4: look for tickets through an anonymizer or in incognito mode

Internet search engines respond to any queries based on the data they have about the user. So, a tourist who is looking for tickets for a flight, say, Moscow-Berlin from an iPad will see more unpleasant prices than a tourist who makes a request through a regular computer or through an Android system. The fact that Apple devices are used by wealthier people works. Moreover, the more requests a person makes, the more expensive tickets he is offered on the Internet, since it seems to the program that the user often makes such purchases and is ready to spend money on them, in addition, the effect of such slight intimidation is used: prices are rising, so hurry up.

Moreover, the Internet also reacts to the geographic location of the sender of the request. A resident of London will be offered higher prices than a resident of Ukraine or India. But the system can be fooled. There are two ways:

  1. Through any anonymizer program that allows you to hide data about a person’s device and location. Popular anonymizers: HideMe, TunnelBear and many others. Some programs allow you not only to hide information about yourself, but also to misinform the Internet by indicating in the settings that the user is in another country, for example, Mexico or India. In this case, search engines will offer you cheaper tickets, but keep in mind that the cost should be determined taking into account double conversion and double bank commission if payment is made using a ruble card, because first you will need to convert monetary currency into dollars, and then dollars into rubles .
  2. Through “incognito” mode in any browser, which allows you to hide the user’s query history. You can open a page in this mode using the keyboard. In Opera Google and Chrome browsers, pressing N, Ctrl and Shift simultaneously works. In Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers - P, Ctrl and Shift. And in Safari - Command, Shift and N.

How to search for airline stocks? It happens that the cheapest tickets are offered not by charter carriers or low-cost airlines, but by companies whose flights usually sell tickets in a high price category. Therefore, before purchasing, it makes sense to go to the website of a specific carrier and search there to see if the company is running a promotion. It’s even more convenient to subscribe to the company’s newsletters. Of course, unnecessary letters will also be sent to your email, but it doesn’t happen all the time. Thanks to such mailings, you can be the first to know about promotions and quickly purchase a ticket.

Try to find out about all the companies that use the airports you plan to fly from. For example, there are convenient websites where you can find out detailed information about a variety of airports, for example Aviasales.

And sometimes the incredible happens, and companies mistakenly offer cheap tickets. There is no need to call the air carrier and ask if the price is correct; it is best to buy such a ticket right away. Most likely, the flight will not be cancelled, but if they do cancel it, then according to the law, the money spent will be returned.

Tip No. 6: buy return tickets immediately and don’t be afraid of transfers

In almost one hundred percent of cases, round-trip tickets on a plane from one company will cost much less than if you first buy only a one-way ticket and later buy a return ticket. It’s even more profitable to buy tickets with transfers, and sometimes with several connections. Therefore, if you find a cheap flight in a ticket aggregator, in which the total flight time takes twenty hours or more, do not be alarmed, it may even be much more interesting than flying non-stop. After all, the hours of waiting can be spent quickly exploring the city of arrival. Some travelers use the so-called stopover - the opportunity to spend more than 24 hours at the landing point, however, this service is not offered on all flights, you need to check. You also need to find out what documents will be needed in the country of arrival to exit the airport.

Many ticket search engines allow users to create a complicated route themselves and find tickets for them. For example, you find a promotion for a company that does not fly to Moscow, but perhaps it has an agreement for further connections with some air carrier that flies from the Russian capital. Then you look for where these companies intersect, and this is how you form your route.

Since tickets with a transfer are often much cheaper than direct flights, in some cases it makes sense to take such a ticket when a tourist needs to get to an intermediate destination rather than the final destination. For example, often tickets to Europe with a transfer somewhere in Tallinn can be cheaper than direct flights to the capital of Estonia. You can purchase a seat on such a plane, and then get off at a transit point. Only for this you need to register your baggage at the airport to the transfer point or fly only with hand luggage.

The downside is that in this case you cannot buy a ticket in both directions at once, since if you miss one of the flight segments, the ticket is cancelled.

Air carriers often offer bonuses for active customers, in particular gift miles. Therefore, it makes sense to take part in the loyalty programs of the companies you use. There are also special banking offers that allow cardholders to accumulate miles. Some companies have miles that never expire, while others require you to spend them over several years or one year.
