"Zavyalikha" is a ski resort in the Southern Urals. Ski resort "Zavyalikha" Where is "Zavyalikha" and how to get to it

Only one person showed up. Why the offer was of almost no interest to anyone and how much you can earn at the ski resort - in our material

The administration did not disclose the reasons why the ski resort was put up for auction. The only participant in the auction was Sergey Shchevyev. They plan to conclude a lease agreement with him for five months - until the end of March next year. The monthly fee will be 527 thousand per month. For an entire resort, this is a symbolic amount, market players note. But accepting the offer even on these terms means taking a risk. Even before opening, you need to check the functionality of the equipment, which already requires large expenses. And if we talk about repairs, then at the current exchange rate the amount will be simply astronomical, says Aleksey Nagibin, partner of the Zavyalikha GLK, Zavbus project manager:

“First of all, there are now questions about the lift, its performance, there is a question about the gearbox, as far as I know. A Doppelmayr specialist spoke that year, I just talked to him personally, he said that the gearbox needs to be changed, and this is a very expensive thing, costing a million, at least, because they are produced in Austria. The technical condition of the complex itself now leaves much to be desired. And this applies, by the way, not only to one lift - “Conrad”, which we are talking about, a six-seater, there are two more lifts. There were questions about the cannons that year, that is, the cannon has two pumps, and one of them did not work that year. How will he snow it? There are questions about the trails, they haven’t been properly cleaned for two or three years, they haven’t been mowed this summer, that is, it takes a lot of snow to use them up,” - says Nagibin.

The Zavyalikha ski resort was created in 1998, 10 kilometers from the town of Trekhgorny. In 2008, bankruptcy proceedings were introduced against the operator of the complex, the Zavyalikha company. Then they said that the resort would not only not suffer from this, but would also enter a new stage of development. Another attempt to save Zavyalikha was made three years ago, then the ski resort was headed by Vladimir Zabelin. He, despite 30 million debts, was able to keep the resort afloat. However, it was not possible to create a full-fledged snowmaking system. And without it, the complex is completely dependent on the weather, notes Artyom Gallyamov, development director of the Eurasia resort:

“Still, the ski resort’s main flow of money and clients comes from the holidays. If the resort skips this period, then we can safely say that it will not earn anything and will even go into the red. A cable car like the one in Zavyalikha consumes a lot of electricity. These are not hundreds of thousands of rubles, these are millions per season. And, among other things, the staff must be qualified to service all this. The capacity of such a cable car is large. If we take the calculation that, let’s say, a thousand, up to two thousand, can visit the resort on a weekend, and the cost of the cable car will be a thousand rubles, multiply by 2000 people. So calculate how much the resort can bring if you take the March, February, January holidays. 14 days multiplied by two million, 28 million in revenue per year, of which all costs still need to be paid,” - says Gallyamov.

Among the advantages of Zavyalikha is the largest 6-seater chairlift in the Urals, and there is a large selection of slopes, although many of them have been closed recently. Therefore, it will be difficult to attract tourists, believes the director of the Center for Sports and Tourism, Igor Shekunov:

“At a time when our “Sunny Valley” was underdeveloped, there was a flow to Zavyalikha, and we even periodically booked hotel complexes located nearby. Today, we also have a fairly good complex open in Kus. And the flow to Zavyalikha actually decreased very much, to say the least, that it simply disappeared. Going there in recent years - the M-5 highway is very overloaded, which at the pass there can be unexpected, but we are talking about winter. In general, traveling such a distance, spending 3-3.5 hours on the road in order to get a not very large ski area, and hotel service there is also not developing. Since then, no new complexes with good spas or anything else have appeared there,” - says Shekunov.

The simplest scenario suggested by experts is simply pumping out the remaining resources from the resort - without any investment on the part of the tenant. But then it will be even more difficult to restore Zavyalikha, for example, by the next season. True, there remains hope that the tenant will be conscientious, or will turn out to be a rich eccentric who rented the entire complex solely for his own needs, and then the load on the ski center will be reduced to a minimum.

The unique beauty of the Southern Urals is the majestic ridges of ancient mountains and sparkling lakes, mountain streams merging into flowing rivers. And the South Ural mountains, although they bear little resemblance to the sparkling peaks of the Alpine three-thousanders, turn out to be quite attractive to Russian skiers.

One of the modern and rapidly growing ski resorts in the Southern Urals is the Zavyalikha ski resort. It is located in the Chelyabinsk region, 7 km from the city of Trekhgorny. The resort got its name from Mount Zavyalikha, on the northeastern side of which it is located. According to experts, although the height difference does not even reach 500 m, the mountain is optimally suited for laying ski slopes of any difficulty level.

The resort has been welcoming its guests since 1999. You can often meet professional athletes here - a training center is open for them in Zavyalikha. In addition, competitions of Russian snowboarders are held on the slopes of the ski resort.
