What do we mean by the term "hike"? Let us define this concept, which is most important for our subject. Tourist hike - this is a short trip (in most cases from 1-2 to 15-20 days) with active modes of movement (walking, skiing, cycling, rowing boats) along the entire route... Thus, the hike is just a special case (variety) tourist travel where tourists move along the route due to their muscle strength. Consequently, other types of travel, where tourists use any type of transport or animals (pack, sled) to move along the route, are not, strictly speaking, a "hike".

How is it customary to classify hiking trips? As in the material of the previous lectures, we will start the classification from the most important foundation - the goal of the campaign (Fig. 1). Tourist trips, according to its purpose, subdivided into hiking recreational (educational and recreational) and hiking sports (educational and sports). Given the previously indicated classification recreational tourism(lecture 2), we can, in turn, subdivide recreational hikes into recreational and health-improving hikes (they are called simply health-improving in the literature), recreational-cognitive (for example, ecological hikes), recreational-sports (for example, adventure). Dominant targets recreational and wellness hikes are - good rest and health improvement of their participants. Front recreational and educational hikes, in addition, also set cognitive (educational) goals and objectives.

V recreational sports hikes leisure participants is realized in overcoming a difficult route containing natural obstacles (sports component). At the same time, the participants of the campaign do not set far-reaching sports goals for themselves, do not strive to obtain a sports title, or participate in competitions. Their goal is to “inject” adrenaline into the bloodstream by means of sports tourism, “cool” to change the measured course of life for a while. In educational and recreational trips main goal is the training of participants in the necessary tourist techniques and tactics of conducting trips, as well as mastering the methods of conducting recreational trips by the participants (training of future tourist specialists in hiking conditions).

Dominant target sports hiking is to improve the capabilities of participants in overcoming classified routes and increase their sports skills, qualifications. In educational and sports trips, in addition, the goal is to teach participants a variety of tourist techniques (techniques for overcoming natural obstacles) and methods of conducting sports hikes(training of instructors of sports tourism in hiking conditions). Sports hikes are additionally classified according to their category of difficulty, which we will talk about below.

Based on the way of travel any hiking (recreational and sports) is divided into four types: walking (in the mountains - mountain walking), skiing, water and cycling. In the case of sports tourism, only these four types of hiking are included in the category requirements of the Unified Sports Classification (ECC) of the Republic of Belarus and only they are related to the "Rules for conducting sports hiking trips" (hereinafter referred to as "Rules") adopted in the Republic of Belarus. At the same time, in Russian Federation the sports classification includes standards for 10 types of tourism: hiking, skiing, mountain, water, cycling, auto-motorcycle tourism, speleotourism (travel to caves), sailing (demountable boats), equestrian and combined. Based on the results of the corresponding campaigns, sports categories and titles are awarded.

Rice. 1 Classification of hiking trips based on the purpose of their conduct.

Based on the duration of the hike(in days) all trips can be subdivided into weekend hikes and multi-day hikes. A hike with active modes of movement, but not providing for the organization of an overnight stay, is not actually a hike - this is the so-called. tourist walk... A hike involving the organization of one or two overnight stays (usually carried out on weekends) is usually called a weekend hike. In the overwhelming majority of cases, weekend hikes are organized with the aim of improving and resting the participants. In addition, they may have learning goals (as in the case of hiking with tourism students) and training goals (as part of a preparatory period before sporting trips). Multi-day hikes can be both recreational and sports.

"Green" tourists are often lost in conjectures: what things are desirable to take, and what is better not even to think about; where you can get by with ordinary clothes and shoes, and where you need special hiking equipment, etc. The answers to these questions are simple, and one should look for them in the experience already accumulated before.

Backpack for hiking

It is with backpacks that it is recommended to start preparing for a hike. A shoulder bag must meet five requirements: comfort, capacity, lightness, strength and water resistance. They are all equally important. For example, a comfortable backpack that does not hold all the necessary things; capacious, but inconvenient; durable, but moisture permeable - equally defective. Still, convenience is key. A long hike with an incorrectly selected backpack means inevitable pain in the back, in the muscles, an incessant feeling of heaviness. Where will there be before the aesthetic enjoyment of nature ...

But the backpack has been selected, purchased: it's time to fill it. The same rule applies here as when loading sea vessels: heavy and voluminous are put down and closer to the back, light and small - up and in outer pockets. Be sure to consider the fragility of some things and how they will interact with each other. You can increase your moisture protection by placing a large plastic bag inside your backpack.

Immediately after packing, try how the loaded backpack will hold onto your shoulders. Jump in place, making sure that he does not make extraneous sounds while doing this. Walk around the room, bend over, try to take off and put on again, get things out of the outer pockets of the dressed backpack, go up and down the stairs at least a couple of floors - in general, check your luggage in the closest hiking situation possible.

Clothes and shoes on the hike

On the territory of Russia, even in summer, the night time is cool, especially at the beginning and at the end of the tourist season. Therefore, you should always have warm clothing when hiking. Hats will help you avoid sunstroke and react to light rain. Two or three cotton T-shirts (they are better than shirts, since there is no risk of buttons being torn off), shorts for hot hours, tight, unmarked trousers in case of cold weather and overcoming grassy areas - this is the "solemn set" of a real tourist.

Hiking shoes are tailored to fit as closely as possible. A balance must be struck between the strength of the sole and the lightness of the shoe itself. In unstable weather, when visiting places inhabited by poisonous snakes, high boots are extremely important; rubber boots are useful for crossing wetlands, on an area teeming with rivers and lakes. In order not to take an umbrella with you, which constrains the freedom of the traveler, it is necessary to replace it with a waterproof cape.

Food for the hike

Even if the entire trip does not exceed five to seven hours, you should think about the organization of meals in advance. There are two main variables that affect it: the planned transition time and the number of participants. Discuss personal food preferences and dislikes, allergic disorders in advance. It is better to entrust the purchase of products and the creation of their stock, distribution during the trip to someone alone. Otherwise, the situation at the marching bowler hat will resemble "confusion and vacillation": it seems that everyone has taken something, but there is very little sense. The heaviest types of provisions should be distributed equally among all participants in the campaign.

  • Store food prone to dampness in plastic containers with hermetically sealed lids (for example, bottles are very good for cereals).
  • In the absence of refrigerated bags, you cannot take anything perishable!
  • Stock up on spices, salt, sugar, tea, coffee, chocolate and nuts.

Drinking water is equally important. Sometimes travelers are lucky, and they walk through an area teeming with springs. But this is very rare and water transfer should be considered. Have each hike carry a small plastic bottle for this purpose. Food should be distributed, among other things, with the expectation that those who are suddenly left alone have them with them for a day, and if they can afford it, even more.

Cooking on a hike means using heat-resistant utensils with handles that will prevent you from getting burned. Disposable plates and reusable plastic containers are excellent. Carry the bowler hat in a burlap case: it is still useless to wash it, it instantly becomes covered with carbon deposits. Place cutlery in a tightly wrapped sturdy cloth.

What else is left? Of course, an overnight stay. Tents will help you to carry it out comfortably and safely. Take those of them that will accommodate all participants, and at the same time correspond weather conditions... Sleeping bags, travel rugs are also essential. Instead of a pillow, you should use outerwear rolled into a roll.

Among the other things necessary for the hike, it should be mentioned:

  • chewing gum (saves space, uses less water than a brush and paste);
  • liquid soap (less water is also wasted);
  • wet wipes (good for wiping off sweat and dirt);
  • in the summer - sunscreens;
  • pocket flashlight;
  • knife, ax, compass, repellents;
  • matches or lighter;
  • a set of medicines for first aid and medicines needed by individuals;
  • garbage bags.

With a sufficiently long hike, it makes sense to take a walkie-talkie, signal flares. In any case, notify someone about the route of movement, about the destination and the deadlines for arriving there. Hike in mountainous terrain it is advisable to start only after registering with the rescuers.

Weekend hikes

Weekend hikes (PVH) are distinguished by duration from one to three days... Modes of movement in hikes are distinguished: health-improving and sports (according to the speed of movement). The organizers of weekend hikes are amateur tourists, tourist clubs, sections, and often institutions of general education and additional education (for tourism and local history purposes).

Weekend hiking routes are chosen spontaneously, influenced by sources tourist information(booklets, travel guides, clubs, including electronic Internet guides). The saturation of routes with sights often determines the cognitive content of hikes. An increase in the tourist information content of the territory (the availability and availability of tourist information) leads to an increase in the number of trips made, to an increase in the number of developed and replicated routes.

To encourage active participants in LDPE in Russia, the Tourist and Sports Union of Russia (TSSR) has developed and the primary tourist teams in the country issue massive award badges "Tourist of Russia". To fulfill the standards of the tourist badge, it is necessary to complete at least 5 weekend hikes (PVH), drawn up with a route sheet, with a total length of at least 75 km on foot or 200 km by bicycle ...

Excerpt from the Camping Tour

- NS! Vasya! - answered Nesvitsky happily. - What are you?
- The squadron "onu pg" can not be walked, - shouted Vaska Denisov, angrily opening his white teeth, spurring his handsome black, blooded Bedouin, who, blinking his ears from the bayonets, which he stumbled upon, snorting, splashing around him with foam from the mouthpiece, ringing, kicked the planks of the bridge with his hooves and seemed ready to jump over the railing of the bridge, if the rider would allow him. - What is it? like a bug "any! exactly the same bug" ana! Pg "oh ... give me a dog" oh! ... Stay there! you are a cart, chog "t! saber exiled" I will kill you! - he shouted, really taking out his saber bald and starting to wave it.
Soldiers with frightened faces pressed against each other, and Denisov joined Nesvitsky.
- Why aren't you drunk today? - Nesvitsky said to Denisov when he drove up to him.
"And they won't let you get drunk!" Answered Vaska Denisov.
- What a dandy you are today! - Looking at his new mentik and saddlecloth, said Nesvitsky.
Denisov smiled, took out a handkerchief from the tashka, spreading the smell of perfume, and thrust it into Nesvitsky's nose.
- I can't, I'm going into business! vyg "washed, cleaned his teeth and perfumed.
The dignified figure of Nesvitsky, accompanied by the Cossack, and the decisiveness of Denisov, waving his saber and desperately shouting, acted in such a way that they squeezed over to the other side of the bridge and stopped the infantry. Nesvitsky found a colonel at the exit, to whom he had to convey the order, and, having fulfilled his order, drove back.
Having cleared the road, Denisov stopped at the entrance to the bridge. Casually restraining the stallion rushing to his own and kicking, he looked at the squadron moving towards him.
The transparent sounds of hooves were heard across the planks of the bridge, as if several horses were galloping, and the squadron, with officers in front of four men in a row, stretched out across the bridge and began to go out to the other side.
The stopped infantry soldiers, crowding in the mud trampled down by the bridge, with that particular malevolent feeling of aloofness and ridicule, with which various types of troops are usually encountered, looked at the clean, dapper hussars who passed them gracefully.
- Smart guys! If only to Podnovinskoe!
- What's the use of them! Only for show and drive! Said another.
- Infantry, no dust! - joked the hussar, under which the horse, playing, splashed mud at the infantryman.
- I would have chased you off with a knapsack two, the laces would have worn out, - the infantryman said, wiping the dirt off his face with his sleeve; - otherwise it is not a man, but a bird!
“That would have put you on a horse, Zikin, if you were dexterous,” the corporal joked over the thin soldier who was twisted from the weight of his knapsack.
“Take a club between your legs, here’s a horse for you,” replied the hussar.

The rest of the infantry hurried across the bridge, spiraling like a crater at the entrance. Finally the carts all passed, the crush lessened, and the last battalion entered the bridge. Some of the hussars of Denisov's squadron remained on the other side of the bridge against the enemy. The enemy, visible in the distance from the opposite mountain, below, from the bridge, was not yet visible, since from the hollow along which the river flowed, the horizon ended in an opposite elevation no further than half a mile. Ahead was the desert, along which in some places the handfuls of our traveling Cossacks were moving. Suddenly, troops in blue hoods and artillery appeared on the opposite hill of the road. They were the French. Departure of the Cossacks trotted downhill. All the officers and people of Denisov's squadron, although they tried to talk about a stranger and look around, did not stop thinking only about what was there, on the mountain, and constantly peered into the spots overlooking the horizon, which they recognized as enemy troops. The weather in the afternoon cleared up again, the sun descended brightly over the Danube and the dark mountains surrounding it. It was quiet, and from time to time the sounds of horns and cries of the enemy came from that mountain. There was no one between the squadron and the enemies, except for small patrols. An empty space, three hundred yards, separated them from him. The enemy stopped firing, and the more clearly that strict, formidable, impregnable and elusive line was felt that separates the two enemy troops.
“One step beyond this line, reminiscent of the line separating the living from the dead, and - the unknown of suffering and death. And what's there? who's there? there, behind this field, and the tree, and the roof, illuminated by the sun? Nobody knows, and one wants to know; and it is scary to cross this line, and I want to cross it; and you know that sooner or later you will have to cross it and find out what is there, on the other side of the line, as well as inevitably find out what is there, on the other side of death. And he himself is strong, healthy, cheerful and irritated and surrounded by such healthy and irritated lively people. " If he does not think so, then every person who is in the sight of the enemy feels, and this feeling gives a special brilliance and joyful sharpness of impressions to everything that happens in these minutes.
The smoke of a shot appeared on the enemy's hillock, and the cannonball whistling flew over the heads of the hussar squadron. The officers who stood together went to their places. The hussars diligently began to align the horses. Everything fell silent in the squadron. Everyone looked ahead at the enemy and at the squadron commander, waiting for the command. Another, third core flew by. Obviously, they were shooting at the hussars; but the cannonball, whistling evenly quickly, flew over the heads of the hussars and struck somewhere behind. The hussars did not look back, but at every sound of a flying cannonball, as if on command, the entire squadron, with its monotonous diverse faces, holding its breath while the cannon ball flew, rose on the stirrups and descended again. The soldiers, without turning their heads, looked sideways at each other, with curiosity looking out for the impression of a comrade. Every face, from Denisov to the bugler, showed one common feature of struggle, irritation and excitement near the lips and chin. The sergeant frowned, looking at the soldiers, as if threatening punishment. Junker Mironov bent down with each passage of the nucleus. Rostov, standing on the left flank on his feet touched but visible Grachik, had the happy air of a student, summoned before a large audience for an exam, in which he is sure that he will distinguish himself. He clearly and brightly looked around at everyone, as if asking to pay attention to how he calmly stood under the cannonballs. But in his face the same trait of something new and strict, against his will, appeared near the mouth.
- Who is bowing there? Junkeg "Mig" ones! Hexog "osho, look at me" go! - shouted Denisov, who did not stand still and who was spinning on horseback in front of the squadron.
The snub-nosed and black-haired face of Vaska Denisov and his whole small, knocked-down figure with his sinewy (with short fingers covered with hair) hand, in which he held the ephesus of the saber pulled out baldly, was exactly the same as always, especially in the evening, after drunk two bottles. He was only more reddened than usual and, throwing his shaggy head up like birds when they drink, ruthlessly pressing his spurs into the sides of the good Bedouin, he, as if falling backward, galloped to the other flank of the squadron and shouted in a hoarse voice to inspect pistols. He drove up to Kirsten. The headquarters captain, on a broad and sedate mare, was walking at a step towards Denisov. The headquarters captain, with his long mustache, was as serious as always, only his eyes shone more than usual.
- What? - he said to Denisov, - it will not come to a fight. You will see, we will go back.
- Chog "t knows what they are doing - Denisov grumbled. - Ah! G" skeleton! He shouted to the cadet, noticing his cheerful face. - Well, I waited.
And he smiled approvingly, apparently rejoicing at the cadet.
Rostov felt completely happy. At this time, the chief appeared on the bridge. Denisov galloped towards him.
- Your pg "evangelist! Let me attack! I will ogk them."
“What kind of attacks are there,” said the boss in a boring voice, wincing as if from an annoying fly. - And why are you standing here? See, the flankers are retreating. Lead the squadron back.
The squadron crossed the bridge and got out of the gunfire without losing a single person. The second squadron, which was in the chain, crossed after him, and the last Cossacks cleared the other side.
Two squadrons of Pavlograd residents, crossing the bridge, one after the other, went back up the mountain. Regimental commander Karl Bogdanovich Schubert drove up to Denisov's squadron and rode at a pace not far from Rostov, not paying any attention to him, despite the fact that after the former clash for Telyanin, they now saw each other for the first time. Rostov, feeling himself at the front in the power of a man before whom he now considered himself guilty, did not take his eyes off the athletic back, the blond nape and red neck of the regimental commander. It seemed to Rostov that Bogdanych was only pretending to be inattentive, and that his whole goal now was to test the courage of the cadet, and he straightened up and looked around merrily; then it seemed to him that Bogdanych was going close on purpose in order to show Rostov his courage. Then he thought that his enemy would now purposely send a squadron into a desperate attack in order to punish him, Rostov. It was thought that after the attack, he would come up to him and generously extend to him, the wounded, a hand of reconciliation.
The figure of Zherkov, familiar to the people of Pavlograd, with high shoulders, (he recently left their regiment) drove up to the regimental commander. Zherkov, after his expulsion from the main headquarters, did not stay in the regiment, saying that he was not a fool in the front to pull the strap when at the headquarters, doing nothing, he would receive more awards, and knew how to settle down as an orderly to Prince Bagration. He came to his former boss with an order from the chief of the ariergard.
“Colonel,” he said with his gloomy seriousness, addressing the enemy of Rostov and looking at his comrades, “we have been ordered to stop and light the bridge.
- Who is ordered? The colonel asked grimly.
“I don’t know, Colonel, who was ordered,” the cornet answered seriously, “but only the prince ordered me:“ Go and tell the colonel that the hussars come back as soon as possible and light the bridge ”.
