Lindos Temple of Athens. Lindos -Samative character of the Rhodes Resort

  • 03.02.2021

There is a small town on Greek Rhodes - Lindos.Which in popularity with tourists is superior to all other sights of the island combined. Small and dazzling white, he stood for more than three thousand years and did not turn into abandoned ruins, but on the contrary, it was only more beautiful! Hundreds of tourists come here every day and roam through his cozy streets, and I naturally did not exception.

Lindos was founded by Dorians in the 12th century BC. In those distant times it was a prosperous city-state, known as the Center for Trade and Shipbuilding. Despite the fact that Lindos recently noted his 3000th anniversary, he clearly does not look at his years. From many ancient cities, only ruins and memories have long remained long ago, and Lindos stands as a new one and pleases the eye with its snow-white look! So come here during your holidays on Rhodes must be necessary.

You can get to Lindosa either on a flight bus that go from Rhodes or by car. Traveling on the car immediately say, parking in the city itself is not. You can park for free from the highway, which passes a little away from the city, or on the beach of Lindos. I undertook an unsuccessful attempt to bargain on the beach, after which I returned to the big parking on the road, where it was also difficult to find a place in the afternoon. From parking to the city to go about 10-15 minutes, but theoretically you can get to the city, plan / plant passengers and return to parking. But the driver will still have to go.

Lindos is an exceptionally pedestrian city, and since it is on the slope of the mountain, then walk all the time then up, then down. If it is difficult for you, you can use the services of a local donkey "taxi". The donkey parking is located at the entrance to the city, and for 5 euros you will be transported over the entire city to the entrance to the Acropolis. And you can just walk around the city, here you can agree with the "taxi driver." And consider 5 euros - this is just a one-way ticket, and you will not roll over the money for this money for this money.

Judging by this photo, local residents are still allowed to move on the motor transport. But, probably, not in the afternoon, when all the streets of Lindos are clogged with tourists and doses.

Upstairs, above Lindos is an ancient Greek Acropolisand Fortress Knights-Johnwho are considered the main attraction of the cityAnd where all tourists go. They say that this is the second beauty of the Acropolis in Greece after Athens. There are also the ruins of the ancient Greek temple of Athens Lindia, in honor of which the city is named.

But as for me, it is just ancient Greek ruins, which I have already seen in other places. And given the fact that the entrance needs to pay another 12 euros, I decided to believe the fault and just walk around the city, which in my opinion is more interesting to the ancient Greek ruins. And I will see the Acropolis in Athens, because someday I will still get there.

Snow-white quiet and cozy streets are, in my opinion, the main attraction of Lindos!

All the Lindos buildings are built in a single style, which very much resembles white cities in Santorini. But there are no blue roofs here. But greenery and colors in prosperity!

It is said that earlier the rich merchants and captains of the ships lived in these homes.

And now there are ordinary Greeks and their fluffy pets.

Sometimes you go on the street, look into the courtyard, and there is a small and cozy restaurant.

So that, and you will definitely not stay in Lindos in Lindos. Here the taverns almost every step.

Quiet, calm, cozy, snow-white, but a little expensive, compared to other less tourist cities of the island.

In Lindos, full of small Orthodox churches, which look outwardly like ordinary houses, but with a cross on the roof.

For some reason, most of them are closed. Strange, I'm used to that in this country all churches are always open.

The most famous in Lindos is the Svyaznikolaev Orthodox Church of the XIII century. This is a small church in the heart of the city whose doors turned out to be open. Especially impressed me in this church wall frescoes, which are decorated with all the walls of the temple. You can find this church according to the famous bell tower, which is seen from afar. The entrance, of course, is free.

Next to the town is the chic eponymous beach in an excellent turquoise lagoon.

This is a sandy beach in a small bay with a very small sunset in the sea. Children will like it here, but those who love to swim will have to go in search of depths for a very long time. If you want to come here it is on the beach that Parking has a tiny beach, and to park, you need to come as early as possible, otherwise you have to put the car upstairs at the road and go on foot. Sun beds are naturally paid - 5 euros, like everywhere on the island.

Is it possible to live in Lindos? - Yes, of course you can!
There are no hotels in the city, but you can stay in numerous little guesthouses or just rent housing. I had thoughts to live in Lindos, but ... Prices are serving here. And if we consider that this is the most popular tourist destination and tourists here are always the sea, then live in Ludod Lindos - dubious pleasure.

And of course in Lindos full stores. These are standard souvenir shops in which you can buy both traditional Greek products and all junk from Asian countries. Since the city is tourist, then the prices here are appropriate. I would advise buying souvenirs in Rhodes, they are a little cheaper there.

Especially beautiful Lindos in the evening at sunset (and after him). On the city itself, we wandered in the afternoon, and then left for. But on the way back, driving past Lindos, I saw a gorgeous picture and stopped a little shoes.

My acquaintance with the White Tourist Pearl of Rhodes came to an end. Yes, the city is beautiful, but too many tourists here. But these are the 21st century, all popular places have long been overloaded with tourists ...

I continue my "Rhodes notes." Today I will begin a story about a wonderful town called Lindos, which is located on the south-east of the island of Rhodes.

Lindos is a very ancient settlement: there is a second largest and significance (after Athens) Greek Acropolis. The powerful fortress is preserved here, built in one time by Ionita knights. Yes, and the town itself with his white houses and narrow intricate streets are very colorful. All this in combination with unusually picturesque Mediterranean scenery resulted in me in a very large number of photos. So the photo report about Lindos I decided to smash into two parts. In the first will be acquaintance with the upper city - this is acropolis, fortress, views of the lower city and the sea. And in the second part there will be a photocuriant on the streets of directly Lindos ...

I went to Lindos myself, the benefit of where I lived, you can get to Lindos without problems. A regular bus goes in this direction for about 1 time per hour, besides the bus stop spread two steps away from mine. The road by bus takes minutes to forty, the fare of 4.8 euros one way (in June 2017).

Since the network was subtracted that the entrance to the Acropolis begins from 8.00 am, then by this time and went - this time and the people are not very much, and not very hot.

Stop in Lindos still almost deserted

This is the route Rhodes Lindos. In the other side of Faliraki and Rhodes

And on the side of the southern tip of the island -

Next to the car station is the church. True, in the name of whom - I do not know.

Whatever in the old Lindos needs to go from the motorway down the road. Oscals are the local "taxi" - go to work.

The terrain here is mountain. The eye clings for some recesses in the rock. Perhaps this is some kind of ancient construction. Maybe the bridge, and can rock temple or monastery.

Since the Acropolis is located on a high cliff at an altitude of about 100 meters above the city, then for some this lifting may be heavy. Therefore, it can be climbed there, riding with the breeze on the local "taxi", i.e. On donkey. The cost of this attraction is 6 euros. In the meantime, the parking lot of the local "taxi" is waiting for the influx of tourists.

But I decided to raise my legs.

On the way, it also opened various paintings

Lindos snow-white houses remain below

Cafe on the roofs of houses is a very common phenomenon here.

And of course, very beautiful bays. This bay is called Lindos Bay. Here is a large public beach. On the other side of the cliff there is another other picturesque bay - St. Paul. (about her - a little further)

On a fairly large area of \u200b\u200blifting, local craftswomen offer to buy the fruits of their works - napkins, tablecloths, embroidered towels, etc.

Everything just lies on the stones

We approach the entrance to the Acropolis ... a ticket to visit costs 12 euros.

The Acropolis of Lindos - the second largest and significance in Greece - is the main attraction of Lindos. Today you can see the monuments of several eras. On the territory of the Acropolis, the remains of the small ancient temple of Athens Lindia are preserved, the remnants of the water gallery, the monuments of Necropolis are preserved. There are remnants of Byzantine structures here. And all this is surrounded by a powerful wall erected by John knights that turned at the time of their dominion on the island, Lindos to one of the most powerful fortresses.

At the entrance to the Acropolis placed a unique petroglyph - the bas-relief of the ancient Greek military ship of the sculptor of the pithocrat, which indicates the maritime value of Rhodes in the ancient period: Lindos since ancient times was the place of intersection of the sea route.

By the way, the other famous work of the sculptor of the PIFOCRAT - Nika Samofratsky is located in Paris.

Of course, looking at the structures of the Acropolis, it is necessary to keep in mind that in most part is the result of the restoration, which was made by Italian in the 1920s and 30s of the twentieth century.

Acropolis offers stunning views of Mediterranean spaces and a small picturesque bay of St. Paul

In the next part, when there is a photo trumpet in Lindos we will reach this bay too ...

Lindos Real Pearl Island Rhodes.
Even if you came to Rhodes to lie down on the beach and swim in the sea,
it is worth caring half a day to visit this wonderful place.
You will not see such cities more on Rhodes, and I think there are few in Greece.
In Lindos, we drove from the south of the island after visiting Prasonisi.
To get to Lindos you need to go through the main route along the southern shore of the island and
rotate the right time. If from the south of the island, there will be a turn right in peff
immediately how the road will leave the sea. If you are from the north of the island, turn left immediately outside the city of Kalatos.
There are many parking lots, you can not stop on the road, and down to the bay of St. Paul.

Lindos is one of the three most ancient cities of the island. Of the three cities (Lindos, Kamaryaros and Iallyasos)
only Lindos is preserved as a residential city. Camelos we visited - only ruins remained from this city.
Lindos was founded back in the 10th century BC. The Acropolis of Lindos is considered the second largest in Greece, after Athens.

We threw the car at the parking lot from the bay of St. Paul. The bay is named after the Apostle Paul who visited the city in 43 AD.
This is one of the two bays of Lindos, the second is on the other side of the cliff.
A convenient combination of two closed bays and a high cliff made Lindos Center for Maritime Trade in ancient times.

In the bay, clean water and two rocky beach from different sides.
Boats in the bay of St. Paul.

The Acropolis of Lindos towers over the Bay of St. Paul. Rock height - 116 meters.
In the ancient Greek times on the rock, the temple of the goddess Athena Lindia was built.
This temple was considered the second most important after the temple of Zeus in Athens, Alexander Macedonsky visited him during his
hiking.

To climb acropol, we will pass through the whole city.
Entrance to Lindos.

The remains of an ancient Greek amphitheater are visible on the rock.

The streets are very narrow, any new buildings are prohibited in the city. All buildings are painted with white paint.

On the way to Acropolis there are many souvenir shops.
This store sell ceramics.

And here they sell lamps. The staircase goes to the restaurant on the roof.

Lifting to Acropolis is pretty heavy, but the species open just wonderful

View of the second bay - Lindos Bay. The beautiful beach is located here.

At the foot of the Acropolis in the rock was carved trill.

The Acropolis of Lindos reflects the entire history of Lindos from Duregreic times to the knights of St. John.
Initially, an ancient Greek temple was built on the rock. Then the walls were added to it.
The Romans also noted: in 300, the castle was erected in 300.
After the Romans, the castle has already been completed and strengthened the Knights-John.

Acropolis is restored from the beginning of the 20th century. Here are still working archaeologists.

From the height of the Acropolis, amazing types are opened:

Go down: the Orthodox church with the bell tower is visible.

It is possible to go up and descend from the Acropolis not only on foot, but also riding the Oslo-taxi :)

On the way back, we were a little diluted in the weakening of the narrow streets of Lindos.

The Aegean Sea is a very popular resort among tourists. In addition to his capital, there are other places that worth visiting - for example, the charming town of Lindos. What is famous for both the features of rest in Lindos, you will now learn.

Lindos City on Rhodes

This small town was built back in the 10th century BC. Today he is the only on the island, preserved as a real residential city (except Rhodes itself). From the other two - Iallyasos and Kamilearos - only ruins remained. In antiquity, Lindos was a major node of maritime trade, mainly due to its natural features. Two closed bays perfectly defended the island from the attack from the sea, and Lindos at one time became famous as the Women's Center - it was here for the first time in the world a maritime law code was adopted.

Almost all the streets of the city are exceptionally pedestrian, very narrow and winding. They are posted from white stone and black and white pebbles, which have become a kind of "business card" of the Greek Lindos. From transport in Lindos there are only donkeys - so get ready for long walking.

An interesting fact is that any new buildings in the city feature are prohibited, since it is unsafe - all local buildings are very ancient and anyone erected nearby building can disturb the fragile equilibrium. Walking around the city, pay attention to the unusual architecture - the influence of the Roman, Arab and Byzantine settlers. Cannot not attract the attention of travelers small picturesque white houses, resembling refinda cubes.
