In the center of Tirgarten, there is a big star in the square, there is a monument - a 67-meter column of victory, which was established here in honor of the victories of Prussia in several wars of the 1860-70s. At the top of the column there is a gilded statue of Goddess Victoria, and her base is decorated with battle scenes. At Square, a big star intersects several main motorways of Berlin, which pass through the park.

Neat lawns are adjacent to natural vegetation and meadows, and the renovated sculptures of famous personalities, such as Goethe, Beethoven, Wagner, - with old dilapidated monuments.

Hello, friends. Surprisingly, at the same time, it converts this or that place by changing his appointment and appearance. Tiergarten Park in Berlin was once a long dense forest, where they hunted and made walks on their thoroughbred horses of the cream of society. There were many wild animals here, which was the name of Tiergarten, which means "the animal".

Now Big Tiergarten or Großer Tiergarten is one of the largest parks in the world. It takes about 210 hectares, which puts it one step with such famous parks as Central Park In New York and Hyde Park in London.

For the first time, where the park is now located, began to use both hunting grounds at the beginning of the XVI century. From this time, it is customary to count the story of Tirgarten.

Travel into the past

In this capacity, the park existed until the end of the XVII century, while Friedrich I did not decide to connect the Charlottenburg Palace with the city. For this, the Unter-Den Linden Boulevard was expanded and the hunting ground turned into a park, fell apart from the city by the city.

In the King, Friedrich II Great Park began to look about the way we see it today. The wall was demolished, and Tirgarian became a favorite place of entertainment and unhurried walks.

Of course, the transformation of the wild forest to the place for entertainment occurred not in one day. At first, all the swamps were dried on its territory, then a common landscape solution came - the park was dodged the park. The center of the composition, as well as now, was the "big star" area. Already existing hunting paths became alleys of the park. In the overall composition, they are the "rays" of the stars.

Now you, looking at Tiergarten after a walk around the city, you can walk along the ancient hunting trails or to be sought on the grass in places where the horns once drove and rushed royal hunting. And we.

After the park acquired his outlines, it's time to decorate it. On the territory of Big Tirgarten is enough space for landscape creativity. And the masters of garden-park arts embodied fashionable at that time, a variety of forest array of all sorts of decor elements. So there were flower beds in the style of Baroque, cozy tea houses, esplanades and sculptures.

The park landscape was decorated in an English style in 1833-1840 under the control of Peter Joseph Lanna.

By the end of the XIX century, one of the main architectural decorations of the park was erected - the monument of the victory column. The memorial is erected by order of Wilhelm I, as a reminder of the numerous victories of Prussia, and is located in the heart of the "Star.

The victory column is an eight-meter column, crowned with the sculpture of the Victoria Victory sculpture. Citizens call the goddess "Golden Elsa".

XX century in the life of Tirgarten

New century brought new changes to the park, many of which are associated with sad events.

The central alley, connecting the park and was renamed the street on June 17. This name of the alley received in memory of the 1953 political strike, which took place in the territory of the GDR.

Up to modern sizes, the park was expanded by Hitler, striving to make Berlin the capital of the world.

During World War II, the Park suffered greatly. Local residents They cut out almost all the trees, trying to warm up their homes.

The restoration of Tirgarten began since 1949 a symbolic planting of a lemon tree. Already after destruction, the park turned out to be the center of the updated megalpolis and his recovery took up close.

Tiergarten. Berlin, Germany

Berlin offers a traveler a lot of pastime options: museums, galleries, nightclubs, palaces, cathedrals, trade complexes. With such a manifold, the parks are departed to the background. And in vain! Walking in the fresh air is very useful, and in someone else's city, besides helping to comprehend what they saw and construct further plans. And there is no need to go far. In the very center of Berlin, Tiergarten Park is located. Perfect place as for active rest (Veloproogulok, rides on rollers and skates, for example), and for idleness (picnics on the grass on the shore of the lake and tasting of different beer varieties are just two options from many). The place attracted the strengths of this world in the XVI century. Kurfurests with pleasure hunted here, from here and the preserved name is "Zoo". And so it lasted until Friedrich came to power, he did not particularly complain about hunting, it was with him, in the XVIII century, the park changed his role, becoming "entertaining", and the century later - "Landscaping English."

In fact, Tirgarian is not as simple as it seems. This is the most as a historic place. And many sculptural compositions are reminded of this: Monuments Bismarck, Friedrich Wilhelm III, Goethe, Lesterngu, Wagneru and many other German figures, as well as the Triumphal Column in honor of the victory of Prussia in the XIX wars. And the statue of victory, which is crowned, called the "Golden Elsa". Fans of photographs from a bird's eye view can get up (overcoming about 300 steps) and make several panoramic pictures of the city. Here, travelers are waiting for another discovery: it turns out that the triumphal column is not at all the only sight of which it was worth come to Tiergarten. Looking from the height, you begin to realize what the park is 210 hectares. In step accessibility, the Church of the memory of Kaiser Wilhelm, the House of World Cultures, the Soviet Military Memorial, Zoo, as well as the diplomatic and government quarters (someone can also come in handy). From here, from a height of 50 meters, you can even consider the palace of Bellevue, the president's residence, closed to visit. Lovers of cultural recreation should pay attention to the constellation of museums (Kulturforum): here and graphics, and crafts, musical instruments, and even the anti-fascist movement. The evening can be devoted to music or books: Philharmonic and library of art nearby. For those who want to immerse themselves in history, the path lies towards the Reichstag, for those who are interested in something more more than - on Potsdamer Platz Square, famous for his newcomer architectural structures. Only and have time to put ticks where to go on. And who will now say that Tiergarten does not need to be included in the list of mandatory to visit the objects of Berlin? To get a card with a detailed description of the park and allocate a whole day to study, is not it?

Tiergarten Park can not help. One of the largest parks in the world, with an area of 210 hectares, located in the center of Berlin, with many monuments of different eras is simply doomed to high attention from tourists ...

However, after a multi-hour walk in Tiergarten, mixed feelings arise - admiration is adjacent to surprise and even bewilderment.

I immediately want to say: it is beautiful, this huge modern descendant of the ancient German forest, stretching from Reichstag and Brandenburg Gate. Before Berlin Zoo. With its countless alleys, canals, lakes, ponds, bridges, monuments and sculptural compositions, Tirgarian himself impresses a certain majestic green monument to German diligence, love of Berliners to their city. But, as they say, you can't throw the words from the song ...

I will start with the oddities of "official". Sculpture compositions installed on the fantasy, we would have called "military-patriotic theme." Four them, and all of them, judging by Ancturing (clothes, weapons), belong to the period of the First World War. Heavyly damaged, some figures lack hands and even heads. There are no inscriptions on the pedestals, only holes similar to bullet. There are no explanatory tablets. In Berlin, sculptures can be found literally everywhere, among them there are many real, highly artistic works of art, but there are also unimagon avant-garde delights, and a frank kitych, but necessarily there is some stand or a sign with information about the author and the date of installation.

It can be assumed that these sculptures, in their own way very interesting, were previously installed in some other places and did not appear in Tiergarten for too long ago. But this is just my assumption, a reinforced search in Google in photos, on returning from Berlin, nothing gave anything. Photos of sculptures in the network are, but without comment. Agree, strange "secrecy".

Traces of the activities of "Forest Vandals", which are rotting trees with inscriptions on the crust, can, unfortunately, to meet in any part of the world and in any green array. Therefore, when I saw in Tirgar'an, on the shore of the picturesque overgrown lake, a huge beech, dyed by autographs, some "Gansa", "Brena" and others, was upset, but was not particularly surprised. Photographed, but not going to publish a snapshot.

Surprise came on, at home, when I was preparing this article, I looked through the materials on Tiergarten on the Internet and came across the article by some Lucy Westfal. Judging by the fact that the article is written in German - a resident of Germany. Lucy with delight wrote about Tiergarten and, in particular, reported that on the crust of the trees there were cut ... Texts of songs "Stand by Me" Ben E. King! At first I did not believe, but Lucy placed a photo. This, as they say, does not climb into any gate, even in Brandenburg ... Moreover, all the trees in the park are recalculated, each has an individual number and, they say even a passport.

The oddities of Tirgarten can be attributed to the fact that the park is quite launched. And strange this fact is because Germany in the consciousness of our compatriots is firmly associated with order and discipline. I must say, in Berlin during my stay there was quite dirty and on the streets. But such that in the park, world-famous big Tiergarten, in the streams were bare bottles and floated plastic bags (which, by the way, in Berlin is forbidden to use, and there are no them in supermarkets), and in the thickets met the unlucky dog and piles of cut dry branches. - not expected. I remembered the parks that I saw in other big cities: Moscow, Kiev, Polish Gdansk, comparison is clearly not in favor of Berlin.

It is all the more strange that I did not see a big influx of the walking in Tiergarten. Although he spent there almost a day, besides the day off - Sunday, and in Berlin there was a terrible 35-degree heat. Some places in the park, picturesque, with beautiful landscape architecture - bridges, fountains, on the contrary, surprised by their loss. And it is most likely not an accident, judging by the scaming of the park in the park.

The case, probably, not in visitors, all these oddities and paradoxes are obviously not on their conscience. The entire infrastructure of the park is concentrated on the external perimeter of the park, in large transport highways crossing Tiergarten - Streets on July 17, Goalheralele and others, where destroyed cafes, restaurants, beer, there are attractions and playgrounds, aquarium, zoo. There, people on the day of my visit were very much, in some places there were even long queues. And in shady cool alleys, a little indeed - rare pedestrians and small pieces of cyclists. Also a paradox. The reason for all the oddities and paradoxes described above for me is a mystery. Nevertheless, Tiergarten Park I recommend to visit everyone who visits Berlin. No matter what.
