We are waiting on the platform. January without reserved seats: Russian Railways suspended the sale of several categories of tickets It did not help

  • 11.10.2021

Have you ever traveled on Russian Railways trains?
Have you bought train tickets?

Have you ever asked for a ticket at the box office (or through the Russian Railways website) for the required date and did not find seats on the train? Or find out that there are only reserved seats near the toilet?
Prudent people buy tickets in advance - several weeks in advance. But when they also find such a situation, they usually start to panic.

I will reveal to you one secret that will make your travel on Russian Railways trains more comfortable.

How do different people buy tickets?

Let's consider 3 scenarios:

1. Alarmists.
Train tickets start selling 45 days before departure.
BUT! A very small number of tickets are on sale in 45 days. These tickets are usually some of the worst. And nevertheless, they are all immediately sold out by alarmists who see that there are few tickets left on sale. As a result, the alarmists are happy - they grabbed the penultimate ticket in the reserved seat on the side.

2. Ordinary people.
An ordinary citizen realizes that it is time to buy a ticket a couple of weeks before the trip. He goes to the cashier, goes to the Russian Railways website and sees that the worst places are left: reserved seats near the toilet or a compartment of increased cost. Not wanting to go to the toilet, he buys a coupe of increased cost. And I am happy that although I overpaid, he will go with comfort. Promising himself that next time he would take care of buying a ticket in advance. However, this promise will of course be forgotten.

3. Lucky ones
Some lucky ones remember that they need to go a couple of days in advance. And some are determined already right on the day of departure - for example, when the boss orders them to take time off. They fly to the station like a bullet and without a queue quietly buy for themselves the best place: either a good inexpensive compartment or a high-quality reserved seat at the most trump place. Sometimes they are still surprised that such places have not been sold out before them. But they explain this to themselves by the fact that they are always lucky in life.

Tickets do not go on sale immediately, but in small portions. Portions go on sale in a certain amount of time: 45, 30, 15, 10, 7, 3 and 1 days and one more portion one hour before departure!

The first tickets go on sale 45 days in advance. And this, as I wrote above, is only a small part of the places and, indeed, these are the worst places.
There is no need to rush to buy them.

The largest emissions of tickets on sale occur in 10 days and in the morning on the day of departure (or per day). Then you need to buy tickets.

Plus, the blowout that occurs in 3 days is sometimes large too, because it is during this period that it is decided whether to include additional wagons in the composition.

In general, the correct algorithm is:
- having realized in a couple of weeks that it is time for you to buy tickets, be guided by the above periods of ticket sales and periodically (once a day, for example) monitor tickets on the RZD.RU website. If the tickets you need are not there now, just WAIT QUIETLY.
- when the tickets that suit you have appeared, buy them directly on the website.

PS / FYI:
- I knew the idea and used it earlier, but I found the timing of the release of tickets

And one more useful link with information on how the sale of tickets for trains passing through the territories belonging to different railway departments (for example, the Moscow-Kiev train) works.

Conclusion from there:
you should not buy tickets at a regular ticket office with a stupid cashier (which are the majority), but you need to buy tickets via the Internet or at a service center.

Every person who has traveled by train at least once knows that the level of comfort in a trip depends primarily on the type of carriage and its class. Naturally, it is much more convenient to travel in a coupe than on a cheap reserved seat. However, even people who have bought inexpensive tickets can expect some comfort on the way. From this article you will find out exactly what services will be available to you!

Services that the passenger can use

  1. Affordable tickets

If you book your train tickets in advance, then you should be given good discounts. The fare depends not only on the season, but also on the availability of free shelves, as well as on the time of order. For some directions there is a chance to purchase tickets for a compartment at the price of a reserved seat. True, for this you will have to make an order at least a month and a half before the date of the trip.

  1. Free restroom at the train station

A passenger with a train ticket can visit the train station toilet free of charge. If they refuse to provide the service, you can appeal to the customer service rules adopted by Russian Railways.

  1. The ability to choose the most convenient place

When purchasing a ticket at the train station, you have the right to ask the seller to help you choose the most comfortable seat available. In order not to be mistaken, study the seat map in advance. For example, many travelers prefer to avoid side seats as well as places near restrooms. The choice of shelf depends on your personal preferences: some people like to sleep on the bottom, some on the top shelf. If you are tall enough, then the short shelves located at the edges of the carriage will be uncomfortable for you. Also, people who like to breathe fresh air while traveling should be aware that the windows in the 3rd and 6th compartments do not open: they are emergency.

  1. The ability to ride in more comfortable conditions

Directly on the road, you can change the class of the carriage, for example, move from the reserved seat to the compartment. True, this can be done only if there are unredeemed places and with an additional payment.

  1. Time transfer

You have the opportunity to travel on a train that departs earlier. In this case, no additional payment is required: the only condition is the availability of seats.

  1. Free ride for a child

Children who have not reached the age of 5 do not need to purchase train tickets (of course, if they do not need to occupy a separate shelf). Children from five to ten years old are entitled to a significant discount on travel.

  1. The ability to pause

The passenger can take a break during the trip. In this case, the validity of the purchased ticket is extended for a maximum of ten days. To stop, you should notify the administration. This must be done four hours after you arrived at the station. To renew your ticket, you need to pay the price of a reserved seat ticket, which is equal to the price of using a seat in the carriage.

  1. Break due to illness

If the passenger is sick, then his ticket is not lost. You just need to get off the train at any station and get all the necessary medical assistance. You also need to take a certificate, which will become the basis for obtaining a new ticket.

  1. Possibility to get money for travel back

If the flight is canceled for any reason or is severely delayed, then Russian Railways is obliged to refund passengers the full cost of the purchased ticket. At the same time, the amount of compensation does not depend on the return period.

  1. Possibility to miss the train

If a passenger misses his train, then within 12 hours he has the right to travel on another. In this case, you will have to pay the fare in a reserved seat carriage. If you are late due to injury or illness, you can leave with an additional payment within five days. An alternative is to get a refund for the missing ticket. True, the cost of travel in a reserved seat will be deducted from the ticket price. Well, if you missed the train at the station, then your bags and suitcases will be sent to the next major stop and will be waiting for you at the nearest lost and found office.

  1. Travel without linen

If you have to travel during the day or prefer to use your own linen or sleeping bag, then you may not pay for the set provided by Russian Railways. Sometimes there are attempts to impose linen, including its prices in the fare. However, according to the current rules, the passenger may not pay for the linen if he does not intend to use it. This must be reported to the cashier when paying for the ticket. True, you need to remember that if you refuse to pay for linen, you will automatically lose the right to take a pillow and a soft mattress: these are the current sanitary standards.

  1. Discount when purchasing tickets for a group of tourists

If you buy tickets for 10 or more people at a time, then the discount can be quite impressive: up to 40%. Discount rates depend on the season and the number of group members.

  1. Baggage

Free of charge, a passenger can carry baggage weighing up to 36 kilograms in compartment and second-class carriages. In CB class wagons, the weight of the cargo can reach 50 kilograms. Additionally, on a gratuitous basis, the passenger can carry fishing rods, skis and other items that do not exceed one meter in length. Strollers and bicycles can only be transported folded.

  1. What services is the guide obliged to provide?

The passenger has every right to ask the conductor to make his bed. This service is included in the ticket price and is a direct obligation for the conductor. Of course, most people handle this task on their own. However, for pregnant women, people with disabilities and the elderly, the bed must be made without fail.

If you have purchased space on the top shelf, you can ask for a special belt that will prevent you from falling. If the conductor claims that such a belt is not available, the passenger can directly contact the head of the train with his request.

It is often offered to "provide" utensils for tea drinking in exchange for the purchase of cookies, coffee, chocolates and other trifles. This is a violation of the rules for passenger transportation: the cup and spoon are provided to the passenger free of charge.

In addition, board games are included in the price of the trip.

If your clothes are torn, you can ask to be given a needle and thread, as well as the simplest medicines. No fee is required for these services.

Passengers are entitled to charge mobile devices free of charge. True, usually in order to charge the phone in the conductor's compartment, you need to give him a symbolic amount: about 50 rubles. Otherwise, you will have to guard your smartphone or tablet.

The passenger may ask you to reheat something in the microwave. In a branded train, the request must be granted, in other cases everything will depend on the goodwill of the carriage employees.

You can get fresh newspapers and a branded set, which includes soap, a toothbrush, toothpaste and wet wipes, only if you are traveling on a branded train.

If a passenger is drunk, took drugs, or in any way interferes with the rest of his neighbors, the conductor must take all measures to ensure that he is expelled from the train.

Additionally

Additionally, you can count on the following services:

Buying a ticket by installments. To purchase a ticket, you need to use this service in the "payment" section;

Ordering lunch in the dining car;

Taxi order to the train station. The order itself must be carried out free of charge: only the taxi driver's service is paid;

Wireless internet is available on some flights. True, this service is still at the testing stage;

The car and the car. Trains with carriages run every day from St. Petersburg to the capital of Finland;

At the box office you can buy a ferry + train ticket;

On some trains (for example, in "Allegro") you can use a specially equipped play area for children;

Animals are transported on passenger trains only with a surcharge. Small animals can be transported in special cages or baskets. Large dogs are transported with muzzles and leashes. In this case, the owner of the dog must buy the entire compartment in which he plans to travel. In this case, you will not need to purchase a ticket for a dog or pay extra for the carriage of an animal.

Now you know a little more about the specifics of train travel. Let this information be useful to you in order to make your trip more convenient, enjoyable and comfortable!

Russian Railways (RZD) announced the suspension of ticket sales for reserved seat and general carriages of long-distance trains departing from January 1, 2018. At the same time, as noted in the press service of the company, the suspension of sales will not affect high-speed trains and Sapsans. Why did Russian Railways take such a step - in the material RT.

From November 3, Russian Railways temporarily stopped selling tickets for reserved seats and general carriages of long-distance trains of the Federal Passenger Company with departure from January 1, 2018. This is stated in a message published on the organization's website. High-speed trains are an exception.

"Since November 3, the sale of travel documents for reserved seats and common carriages in trains formed by JSC FPK (JSC Federal Passenger Company) has been closed. - RT), following in domestic traffic, starting from the date of departure from the starting points 01/01/2018 (except for trains of the category "high-speed") ", - reported in the Russian Railways.

As the press service of the company told RIA Novosti, the decision was due to the fact that the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) did not make a decision on tariffs for passenger transportation for 2018.

Russian Railways promised to resume ticket sales as soon as the FAS determines the tariffs.

  • Russian Railways

It is noted that if they differ from the previous ones, then passengers will be compensated for the difference in price or offered to return tickets without penalties.

FAS proposals

Earlier, the FAS proposed to reduce by 10% railway tariffs for long-distance passenger transportation in reserved seats and common wagons.

The deputy head of the department, Alexander Redko, explained this proposal by "creating economic incentives for the population."

The relevant issue, he said, was discussed at a meeting of the department's board on Tuesday, October 31.

“Raising prices based on costly logic is wrong. We must focus on the state of competition and the income of the population. Air carriers reduce the cost of their transportation by 10%, and all customers from the railways go to aviation, ”Interfax quotes the official.

At the same time, JSC FPC, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, which is engaged in transportation on long-distance trains, expects to index regulated tariffs in 2018 by 3.9%.

  • Russian Railways

Officials consider it inappropriate to raise ticket prices for the company, which is experiencing a decrease in passenger traffic.

“The carrying capacity of Pobeda is 94%, in the reserved seat of the FPK - 74%, in common wagons - less than 50%. Here is a reserve, the trains run half empty. What's the point in raising prices for half-empty trains? It is necessary to solve the problem of the quality of rolling stock, ”Redko stressed.

However, as it became known, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Economic Development opposed the reduction of tariffs.

Freight transportation

As for freight railway tariffs, the Antimonopoly Service did not rule out the possibility of indexing the cost of transporting oil cargoes on an equal basis with all others.

  • Russian Railways

“The FAS believes that it is possible to index oil transportation, like all cargo, without exemptions. At the same time, point discounts of up to 50% are possible for certain projects: in the oil industry, also, for example, for fertilizers and metals. We have submitted such a proposal to the draft government decree, ”Redko also reported.

At the same time, the head of the FAS Igor Artemyev noted that the indexation of the freight tariff of Russian Railways in 2018 will be lower than inflation - within 3.9-4%.

“Inflation minus”, that is, 4%, is the maximum possible, that is, either 4% or 3.9%. The forecast was downgraded, but this is in the event that the government revises the socio-economic forecast officially, ”TASS quotes Artemyev.

According to him, when the government revises the inflation forecast, for example, at 3.2%, RZD will have indexation within 3.2%.

Passenger fares in 2017

In 2017, the indexation of passenger railway tariffs for transportation in reserved seat and shared carriages of long-distance trains amounted to 3.9%; in compartments, SVs and suites of trains not included in the dynamic pricing system - 5%.

The cost of services provided to passengers of long-distance trains and included in the ticket price (bed linen, meals, sanitary and hygienic kits) increased by an average of 5%.

Let us recall that the transportation of passengers on long-distance trains is carried out by the subsidiary of Russian Railways - JSC Federal Passenger Company. The FAS determines the tariff for reserved seats and common carriages. Tariffs for transportation in SV, compartments and suites are set by the FPC in agreement with the FAS.
