Multipurpose displacement wooden motor boat with a length of 8 meters with a relatively small size is an ideal vessel for comfortable navigation on rivers, lakes, reservoirs and coastal areas of the seas with a small crew. The scope of the boat is very wide: it can be used as a pleasure boat, as a family boat for long-distance cruises, charter boat, crew boat or fishing boat. The main engine is Vetus M3. 28 - 27 hp. with. provides economical travel up to 7 knots (13 km / h) and has sufficient power reserve to increase travel speed and deal with headwinds and waves. On the transom, a folding platform with a low-power outboard motor for trolling can be arranged. A separate cabin plus saloon, galley and latrine provide ample amenities for a crew of 4 on a multi-day cruise and up to 10 on a weekend cruise. A variant with a shorter wheelhouse and a more spacious cockpit is possible. The boat's width of 2.5 meters fits into the auto size, so that it can be transported on a trailer to uncharted waters.

Displacement motor boat project designed by Viktor Natsyk based on the architectural design of Yuri Antipov. The design of the boat is wooden - pine lathing (diagonal laminate) on the longitudinal set and plywood bulkheads. It is possible to develop a case with a Sharpy plywood sheathing. An amateur self-builder who has certain skills in working with wood can build such a boat on his own and become the owner of a real vessel.

3D models of the displacement motor boat "Crab-800"

The design of the boat is of a classic style with a developed wheelhouse, with raised extremities and a wide camber in the bow and a transom not submerged in the water. Such hull contours guarantee high seaworthiness on the wave and good, light and economical movement in displacement mode.

The spacious bow deck and wide sun deck on the roof of the bow cabin, as well as the deep and spacious cockpit create a comfortable environment for working and relaxing outdoors. The cockpit is self-draining. In addition to the deckhouse and leg rails (low bulwarks), the deck on the stern and in the stern is fenced with railings.

The deckhouse can be made with different types of windshield inclination in accordance with the preferences of the owner.

The interior layout of the boat is represented by a bow cabin with a double berth, a wardrobe and a latrine with a shower and a washbasin. In the saloon with large windows there is a galley and a dining table with two transverse sofas. In the bow of the galley, on the port side, there is a control post with a separate exit to the deck. The height in the wheelhouse is 1.96 m to the ceiling. The wide cockpit with capacious lockers for skipper's supplies under the banks is well protected from the weather by the wheelhouse and has a length of 1.96 meters, and, if necessary, two people can spend the night here. In the bow there is a voluminous anchor locker, and in the stern of the cockpit, behind the bulkhead, an insulated locker, where a gas cylinder and other supplies are stored. Fuel and water tanks, accumulators, a hot water boiler are located under the floorboards of the saloon, in the hold and in the lockers of the bunks, and in the cupboards and lockers of the sofas there is also space for storing property and supplies.

The stability of the boat is extremely high. It is nearly impossible to flip it under any loading conditions. Roll stability shoulder 50 deg. is 0.313 meters, and the restoring moment is 911 kg * m. In simpler terms, you can imagine that a roll at 50 degrees. the boat will recover by force of 911 kg applied to the arm 1 meter long across from the center plane of the vessel.

All critical pouring points (entrance door, cockpit lockers) remain above the water level at any bank angle, only the wheelhouse windows at 84 degrees. enter the water, and if they are not squeezed out by the water pressure, then the boat will not heel further, since the wheelhouse, entering the water, prevents the roll. But this is an incredible case, almost impossible under normal operating conditions in the designated waters.

Construction of a boat

The construction of a wooden boat hull is carried out by methods usual for modern wooden shipbuilding, and this is within the power of amateur self-builders. The structure of the wooden hull consists of a longitudinal set - the keel, fenders and stringers, fastened on the stem and transom, and resting on a transverse set of frame frames and bulkheads. The hull plating can be done in different ways. The most preferred is a three-layer diagonal pine batten laminate. The option of single-layer sheathing with longitudinal strips is possible, or combined - one longitudinal and two or one diagonal layers. The construction of the hull of the boat is carried out in the keel up position, and after exposing the frames to the slipway, sheathing and pasting the hull with fiberglass, the hull is turned to its normal position, the internal arrangement of the hull is completed, the deck is laid, the cockpit is mounted, and the completion of the wheelhouse is completed. Building such a boat will require the builder to have some carpentry skills, an ability to understand blueprints, hard work, motivation and perseverance, as well as a certain amount of common sense. You can build a boat with a plywood sharpy hull.

Materials for the construction of a displacement boat

Wood lumber for must have an air-dry moisture content of 13-16%, be as straight-layered as possible, with a minimum number of knots. It is advisable to select a fine-layer material with a dense structure of annual rings. Plywood - FSF brand, at least. If you want to have a luxury boat, you can use plywood with an outer layer of mahogany or other decorative wood for frame frames and interior furnishing of furniture. These materials will look very beautiful under varnish. Fasteners are mostly stainless screws of various sizes. Satin weave glass fabric suitable for epoxy impregnation. Assembly of the body - on epoxy resin, pasting too, in extreme cases - on polyester. You will also need some stainless steel - for the rudder stock, the helmport pipe, and sheet steel - for practical things. Lead for ballast in the marine version of the boat can be replaced with cast iron shot, but this is worse.
